About This Pub

Ah, The Garden House in Norwich – what a spot for a relaxed pint or a lively evening with friends. From what I've gathered from folks who've been, it's got this brilliant old-school charm that makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in, with staff who go out of their way to make sure you're looked after. The real highlight is the incredible array of beers and ciders; it's like a haven for anyone who appreciates a good brew, and they've got some cracking offers that keep things affordable without skimping on quality. Plus, if you're into sports, it's spot on with all those screens showing the latest games – I've heard it's buzzing during big matches, which adds to that community feel. It's also great for social events, like popping in for a birthday bash, and the outside area is a nice touch for sunnier days. On the flip side, though, it's not the place if you're hoping for a hearty meal; it's mostly just bar snacks, so you might need to plan ahead and grab some food elsewhere. All in all, it's a solid choice for a straightforward, enjoyable pub experience – honest, down-to-earth, and just what you need after a long week, but with that one little caveat to keep in mind.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Fantastic selection of beers and ciders – it's got one of the best ranges I've come across, making it a real treat for ale enthusiasts.
  • Lovely welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff who make you feel right at home, especially the landlord who's always on hand with a smile.
  • Brilliant for sports fans, with plenty of TVs showing live football, rugby, and more, so you can catch the big games in a buzzing setting.
  • Great community vibe, perfect for gatherings or events like birthdays, and they've got an outside area for when the weather's nice.
  • Unbeatable drink offers and specials, including summer ranges and student deals, which make it easy on the wallet for a good night out.
Cons
  • No proper food menu to speak of, just basic bar snacks, so if you're after a full meal, you might have to head elsewhere before or after.
  • It can feel a bit focused on drinks over everything else, which might not suit if you're looking for a more all-round dining experience.

I thought i update on my previous review on The Garden House Pub as previously i lived quite of away out from this location, but i can happily say that i am much closer to this wonderful pub and Johnathon is the best Landlord i know he is so welcoming and greets you on entering here , and even Reserve a table for a football match for you which is fantastic. Thanks to him and Tanya who go out their way to make you feel at home. Your are both stars ☆☆☆☆☆☆ Beers are excellent ☆☆☆☆☆

I found this pub using the real ale finder app. Seemed odd that they claimed to have so many beers and when I entered I assumed there was a beer festival on. However they have a brilliant system of various ales on tap, and then a permanent array of cask beers and ciders available. A real dream for an ale fan. The beers I tried were excellent and well kept as you'd expect from a pub clearly run by an enthusiast. The service was friendly and the prices very reasonable indeed. Well worth a visit to the suburbs, I walked from the city and the dog and me felt very welcome. Google is making me rate food, I didn't have any and my 4* rating is made up. Thanks very much for a great visit.
