About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about The Fox and Vivian – it's this independent pub right in the middle of Leamington Spa that's become a bit of a favourite for anyone after a proper good meal and a relaxed atmosphere. From the reviews I've had a look at, the food is where it really shines; people are raving about the steaks, ribs, and burgers, all made with the freshest local cuts that you can taste in every mouthful. It's not just about the grub either – the staff come across as genuinely friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home, whether you're there for a quiet dinner or to watch the footie with a group. They've even got a smart function room that's perfect for hosting your own events, with plenty of options to make it your own. But, it's not all perfect; one thing that cropped up is the lack of proper starters on the menu, which might feel a tad limiting if you're after something light to begin with. Plus, with it being closed on Mondays and earlier finishes on some days, it might not always fit the bill for spontaneous plans. Overall, though, it's a solid spot that does a lot right, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area – just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a brilliant time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on, especially the steaks, ribs, and burgers – they're using fresh, locally sourced ingredients that make every bite feel special.
-
The staff are lovely and really welcoming, always up for a chat and making sure you have a great time.
-
It's got a lively, buzzing atmosphere, perfect for catching the football or meeting up with mates for a laugh.
-
They've got a fantastic function room for private do's, like birthdays or even weddings, with options for full dining and its own bar.
-
As an independent spot in the heart of Leamington Spa, it feels personal and community-focused, which is just what you want from a local pub.
Cons
-
It seems a bit odd that there aren't any dedicated starters on the menu, which might leave you wanting a bit more variety to kick things off.
-
They're closed on Mondays, which could be a downer if you're planning a mid-week outing and fancy a pint.
-
From what I've seen, the operating hours might not suit everyone, wrapping up earlier on some days, so it's worth checking ahead if you're out late.

Great experience 100% recommend! We booked a table to watch the football and they gave us a perfect one. We enjoyed the game with delicious buffalo wings and a full track of bbq ribs. Top staff!

Ribs are amazing! Like ridiculously good. Rest of food was also great but my god how good were those ribs.. great service, lively pub with bubbling atmosphere. I was here on a Thursday for a friends leaving do and never been before but quite a few of us have plans to return.
We came for Sunday lunch yesterday and was hugely impressed. The quality and taste was fantastic. What I also liked was the fact you didn't have to pay for extras, it was one set price. Will definitely be coming back. We had the lamb and there was plenty of it :-)
Visited the fox and Vivian over the weekend for what the locals say is the best steak restaurant around.
So I was excited to see what it was all about, firstly no starters?! Kinda weird concept not to really have any dedicated starters but oh well.
I ordered a 12oz NY strip steak or also known as a sirloin or porterhouse steak. Ordered with side of Parmesan and truffle fries and chimichurri.
Steaks come with tender steam and mushroom, but also ordered some popcorn shrimp as a side and others also ordered prawns and onion rings which I also tried.
Overview, really well cooked steak, mid rare very nice sear across the steak, but not rested long enough for my liking if I’m being picky, also overall the flavour profile was pretty bland and not much depth to steak, probably wasn’t prepped correctly for maximum flavour / resting for correct period. But it certainly was not worst steak I’ve had, very good cut of meat, quality produce.
The fries were ok nothing to shout about, and sadly the veg on the plate was stone cold and bland also.
The sides were decent, popcorn shrimp tasty and fried perfectly, homemade style onion rings with plenty of flavour too, and king prawns were very nice juicy and flavourful.
I ordered chimichurri sauce, again sadly pretty bland lacked acidity and punch.
Plenty of pros - quality produce, good selection of meats, competitive menu and edgy atmosphere.
Would like to come back to retry it again and give a review update as I’m sure they are better than what i experienced on this visit.
Overall rating 7/10.
We came here for an early dinner. Quickly browsed the menu online and decided it looked good. The staff were lovely, very friendly. The food was absolutely delicious, we had the salt and pepper squid, popcorn shrimp for starters which were really hot and full of flavour.
I had the wagyu beef burger for main and my wife had the Korean buttermilk chicken burger. Both were outstanding. Can't fault the place, proper sized portions as well and very good value for money and quality. Would definitely recommend.
There is parking around the corner which is very helpful.
