About This Pub

Ah, The Fairways – it's one of those places that feels like a proper local haunt, you know? From what I've gathered, it's got this down-to-earth charm that's perfect for a casual catch-up over a pint or a hearty Sunday roast. The positives really shine through; you're getting bang for your buck with meals that hit the spot, and the staff often go out of their way to make you feel at home, which is just lovely for a relaxed evening. If you're popping in for a stay, the rooms are neat and straightforward, ideal if you're working away and don't need anything fancy. But, let's be honest, it's not all roses – the bar shutting up shop early can be a right shame if you're in the mood for a longer session, and some folks have mentioned the lighting being a bit rubbish, making things feel a touch dreary. Plus, sorting out food can be tricky without booking ahead, and there are times when the service isn't quite up to scratch, with a few worn-out spots adding to a less than vibrant feel. Overall, I'd say it's worth a visit if you're after something unpretentious and affordable, just keep those little downsides in mind so you're not caught out.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's got great value for money, making it a brilliant choice for a budget-friendly meal or overnight stay.
  • The staff are generally friendly and helpful, which really adds to that welcoming pub vibe.
  • Rooms are kept clean and tidy if you're after a simple spot to rest up after a pint.
  • Sunday dinners are spot on – tasty and just the thing for a relaxed weekend nosh.
Cons
  • The bar tends to close early, which can put a dampener on evenings, especially if you're keen on watching the footie.
  • Lighting in some areas is a bit dismal, making it feel a tad gloomy.
  • Booking food can be a hassle; they don't always take walk-ins, so you might need to plan ahead.
  • Some staff come across as a bit offhand, and the atmosphere can feel stale at times, with signs of wear and tear around the place.

This is not a 5 star hotel, but I have given it 5 stars For what they charge and the service. Rooms are well kept and tidy. Person who checked us in was helpful. All the negative reviews I had read, not found 1 to be the case. It’s not a 5 star hotel venue. But a great option for working away or a last min stay.

Good Sunday dinner and great value for money. If you go before 2pm it's generally not too busy, so it's not important to reserve a table which can sometimes be difficult by phone.

Stayed here for 1 night after an event. Freindly welcome by young girl who gave us our room key. Room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed but the lighting is awful. Very dark lighting with only a few spotlights. We had the worst night and were not able to sleep due to the thin paper like walls which allows you to hear the people in the next room. We could hear everything and i mean everything and it didn't help that the people next to us were drunk and noisy until 2am!! The constant slamming of doors was unbearable and there is no receptionist or member of staff on site after 11 when their pub shuts so there is absolutely nobody to contact who can deal with anti social guests. You're just left to put up with it and not get any sleep. To top it all off, we were also awakened by the pungent smell of weed. Although the owner is not responsible for guests behaviour there should be someone on call to deal with any troublesome guests and ensure that everyone can have a good nights sleep as that is what we paid for afterall. I can 100% say that i will never stay here again! Pay abit extra and stay in a decent hotel

They don't serve food to walk ins. You have to pre-book a table but there is no option to do it on their website! They run out of many things at the bar. The staff are unpleasant and couldn't care less. Battered lights outside and chipped walls inside. Stale and belligerent atmosphere. This place is to be avoided.
