About This Pub
Ah, The Emperor – it's one of those hidden gems tucked away near Slough that really captures the essence of a classic English pub. I have to say, what stands out most is the cosy atmosphere; picture yourself sinking into a comfortable lounge with a pint in hand, or spilling out into that lovely garden on a warm day, especially if you've got the dog in tow. The food's a real highlight too – their Sunday roasts are legendary, with rave reviews about the pork and massive portions that make you feel like you've got your money's worth. It's also brilliant for private dos, whether it's a birthday bash or a wedding, as they've got spaces that can handle it all. But, to keep it real, I've heard a few grumbles about service not always being on point; one chap mentioned staff seeming a bit harried, leading to mishaps like a spilled drink, which could put a slight dampener on things. Plus, with the kitchen shut on Mondays and Tuesdays, it's not the go-to for a spontaneous mid-week meal. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for pub goers looking for good grub and a friendly chat – just pop in with an open mind and you're in for a treat!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is just lovely – it's a proper traditional English pub with a warm, inviting feel that's perfect for unwinding with mates after a walk in the nearby Burnham Beeches.
-
The food is spot on; think hearty classics like amazing Sunday roasts and fresh dishes that hit the spot, with plenty of options for veggies and big portions that leave you satisfied.
-
It's super dog-friendly and has a spacious garden, making it ideal for a sunny afternoon pint or a get-together outdoors.
-
The staff are generally brilliant, going above and beyond for events like weddings or parties, and the bar's well-stocked with a great selection of beers, wines, and spirits.
-
With a solid 4.4 rating from loads of folks, it's clear this place knows how to deliver a good time, especially for special occasions or casual visits.
Cons
-
Service can sometimes feel a bit rushed, like when you're just trying to enjoy a quiet pint and things get a tad sloppy, as one person mentioned with a spilled drink.
-
The kitchen's closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, which might put a damper on plans if you're after a meal mid-week.
-
The menu's a bit on the compact side, so if you're after something really adventurous, you might find the options a little limited compared to bigger spots.

Hired out this place for our viking wedding, absolutely amazing day. Staff went above and beyond always come back here for a beer and bit of grub one of the hidden little gems of slough
Nice little garden and a great plate of nachos!
Excellent pub and restaurant in a beautiful setting. Our 3rd time here and easily the best Sunday roast around. Superb quality food and excellent value for money. Highly recommend the roast pork and sticky toffee pudding. Fantastic friendly and caring staff. Thank you.
Best roast of my life; pork shoulder was incredible with amazing portion sizes. 10/10 for everything with the pork; truly a special meal.
We visited on a Saturday, early evening. Despite the pub not being overly busy, the staff seemed rushed. Our pint of Bitter was thrust across the bar at us, spilling in the process, leaving us with a wet sticky glass before we'd even sat down. The menu is fairly compact but generally with something for every taste. Our food arrived at the table after around 20 minutes but the pasta dish was barely warm. This is purely my opinion but I think it might have been left on the side until the Burger was also ready so they could be served together. A little salad on the side would have been most welcome also. The pub itself has a warm, friendly feel to it, with a large peaceful Garden and ample off road parking is provided.
We will be back for drinks but sadly not for the food.
