About This Pub

Ah, The Crown Inn at Burnham Beeches – it's one of those places that really sticks in your mind as a proper gem tucked away in the woods. I've got to say, from what I've seen, it's got this wonderful mix of traditional pub charm and a bit of sophistication, especially in their dining areas and event spaces. The food stands out as a real highlight; they're all about fresh, seasonal British cuisine that's innovative and tasty, with rave reviews for things like the brisket sandwich and those hearty wedding feasts. Service-wise, it's mostly spot on – friendly staff who go the extra mile, whether you're just nipping in for lunch on the terrace or planning something bigger. And let's not forget the location; it's beautifully peaceful, perfect for a relaxed day out, and they're ace with dogs, which is always a plus for us outdoor types. On the flip side, though, some have mentioned it feels a bit overpriced for the casual pub feel, and there might be the odd time when the service doesn't quite hit the mark, like staff milling about without much direction. Overall, with a solid 4.3 rating, it's a place I'd recommend for a great meal or a special do, as long as you're up for that blend of rustic and refined – just keep an eye on the bill!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The service is incredibly friendly and attentive, making every visit feel welcoming and personal, just like chatting with old mates.
  • The food is an absolute delight, with fresh, seasonal British dishes that are packed with flavour – think mouth-watering brisket sandwiches and generous portions for special occasions.
  • It's set in a stunning, tranquil spot in Burnham Beeches, offering a peaceful escape with lovely gardens and a terrace perfect for soaking up the sunshine.
  • They're super dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're out for a walk and fancy a stop for a bite, complete with water bowls for your furry companions.
  • Ideal for events and weddings, with top-notch attention to detail that creates unforgettable memories, and the rooms are a treat for a comfortable overnight stay.
Cons
  • It can feel a bit pricey for the pub-like atmosphere, which might not suit those after a simple, budget-friendly pint and a meal.
  • There are occasional inconsistencies in service, like staff seeming underutilised at times, which could make things feel a tad disjointed during quieter moments.

Stopped for lunch with the dogs, sat on the lovely terrace outside in beautiful sunshine. Service was really friendly and attentive, they also gave water for the dogs. The brisket sandwich was fantastic, would definitely recommend 5 stars!

Amazing venue. It is such a lovely pub/restaurant and event location. The food was absolutely delicious. The team was very friendly and welcoming. It's very close to the M4 but tucked away in a quiet location. The bedrooms were lovely.

Went for Sunday lunch, with kids - this place really can't decide what it wants to be. In some ways it's very pub-y - it was comfortable & there was big dog asleep on the floor behind me, yet the prices certainly weren't & there were tonnes of waiting staff, mostly hanging around, who wanted to put napkins on everyone's laps and constantly be refilling water glasses. Same staff didn't know what beers they had on tap nor what ice-creams were available when the menu offered them but didn't list varieties. Food both Sunday roasts and desserts took an age to arrive, with the roasts served on cold plates and the waiting staff eventually delivering desserts but then taking another 5 minutes to find cutlery! If this place could spend a little time concentrating on the basics it could be really good - at the moment, it's an expensive disappointment!

We had our wedding reception at The Crown, and it was absolutely amazing. We really cannot put into words how perfect it was. Martin & Gracia were absolutely perfect hosts. Their attention to detail cannot be praised highly enough. When we spoke to them in the build up, they totally put our minds at ease by telling us how things would go, and they absolutely delivered. Joe the chef created a delicious and generous menu for us - we heard time and time again that it was the best and most generous wedding menu our guests had ever had. I really don't think I will ever be able to convey how much these guys added to our day - but we will forever be grateful. Thank you to all at The Crown. If you are getting married locally, you absolutely must consider The Crown.

My son and daughter in law had their wedding celebration at the Crown yesterday. It was exceptional! The food was superb - great quality, beautifully presented and very generous portions. The service was faultless - attentive but unobtrusive staff who worked really hard, always with a smile. Thank you to Martin and the whole team for making a special day that little bit more special!
