About This Pub
Ah, The Earl Haig – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a reliable old friend in Bexleyheath, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff really shine through; they're quick with a smile and always on hand to sort you out, which makes for such a warm welcome. The atmosphere is spot on for a relaxed catch-up or a family get-together, and they've got a good range of food that's generally consistent – think hearty meaty dishes that hit the spot, plus options for veggies and the little ones. It's conveniently placed with free parking and a lovely beer garden, ideal if you're nipping in after exploring the local parks or shops. But let's be straight, it's not all perfect; you might end up twiddling your thumbs waiting for your meal, and while the food's alright, it can sometimes lack that extra punch in flavour, coming off a bit ordinary. Still, with an overall rating hovering around 4.3, it's clear most folks leave happy, and I'd say it's worth a visit for a straightforward, no-fuss pint and bite – just manage your expectations and you'll have a cracking time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly and helpful, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's got a really welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, perfect for catching up with mates or enjoying a family meal.
-
The food is consistently good, with a great selection including tasty options for meat lovers, and they've got solid choices for vegetarians and kids too.
-
Plenty of free parking and a spacious beer garden make it a convenient spot, especially if you're popping in after a day out nearby.
-
Easy to get to, just a short drive from Bexleyheath train station, and it's open all week with a cosy fire for those chillier evenings.
Cons
-
Wait times for food can drag on a bit, like over 40 minutes in some cases, which might put a dampener on things if you're in a rush.
-
The grub is decent but nothing to write home about – some dishes come across as a tad bland and unseasoned, leaving you wanting a bit more flavour.
-
It's a solid pub overall, but it feels pretty standard without any standout features that make it truly memorable compared to others.

Mostly standard pub. We went for Father's day. waited around 40+ minutes for food. When the food arrived. It wasn't bad. But wasn't great either, very middle of the road. Had a mixed grill and a lot on the plate was just bland and unseasoned.
I'd give the food a 6 out of ten. The general atmosphere was fine though. I'm sure mid week it'd be a nice place for a pint and a bit to eat, but it's certainly not somewhere I'd be rushing back to personally.
Very nice chap called Dave I think (sorry he was very quick) served me. Was absolutely stuffed, couldn’t get another thing in my mouth. Good place for meat lovers - sausages were particularly nice. Would definitely visit again.
Friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Best feature is the staff always friendly and helpful. David in particular as he serves us often. Food is consistent.
Excellent booking system and good follow up reminders which is always good.
We usually go at least once a week.

The Earl Haig is a fantastic pub in Bexleyheath, offering a great selection of local and international beers, along with delicious pub food that’s definitely worth trying when visiting the area. While London boasts many iconic pubs, The Earl Haig stands out as my favorite in Bexleyheath for its welcoming atmosphere and quality offerings.
