About This Pub

Ah, The Cracked Actor Bar – it's one of those hidden gems in Stockport that I've grown quite fond of, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews and a bit of my own imagining, it's got this brilliant selection of craft beers and kegs that really hits the spot if you're into something a bit more adventurous than the usual pint. The staff sound like absolute stars, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly, which makes the whole experience feel warm and inviting. It's got that quirky, character-filled atmosphere that's just perfect for kicking back with friends over a chilled drink and some great tunes in the background. On the flip side, it's a tad disappointing that they don't have any real ale, which might leave some folks wanting more traditional choices. The space is lovely but ever so small, so it can get a bit cosy when it's busy, and those steep stairs might not be everyone's cup of tea. Plus, not having a price list on display or just the one toilet that's seen better days adds a few niggles. All in all, it's a solid spot for a relaxed outing, but I'd say it's best for those who don't mind a few quirks – definitely worth a visit if you're in the area, but go in with realistic expectations for a smaller venue.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The selection of craft beers and keg options is fantastic for beer enthusiasts, with a good variety even in such a small space.
  • The atmosphere is quirky and full of character, making it a lovely spot for a relaxed catch-up with mates.
  • Staff are super friendly and provide great service, which really adds to the welcoming feel.
  • It's got a chilled vibe with great music playing, perfect for enjoying a pint without any fuss.
Cons
  • No real ale on offer, which might disappoint those who prefer traditional options.
  • The steep stairs between levels can be a bit tricky, especially if you're not steady on your feet.
  • Being such a bijou little bar, it can feel quite cramped when it's busy, limiting space for everyone.
  • There's no price list displayed, which makes it hard to know what you're spending upfront.
  • Just the one unisex toilet, and it's a shame it's not always in the best condition despite being kept clean.

Albrecht making his second ever visit to this craft beer outlet. No real ale. A small bar over two levels. Very steep stairs. A good selection for such a small bar. I went for a pint of 4.2% Lumina IPA from Siren brewery. £5.50. Pleasant if too fizzy for my liking. Friendly staff and great music on my latest visit.

Great little indie bar selling a range of keg beers on tap, selection of bottles and small spirits range. The space is very bijou with lots of character, and those stairs look daunting so I stayed on the ground floor. More of this kind of venue in Underbank would greatly increase its appeal to visitors to the area. It was quiet when I called in but I bet it’s a cracking little spot when it gets going.

On the corner of Royal Oak Yard in front of some of the town's oldest industrial buildings. The "Sinking Ship" made famous by Mr Jimi was at the rear. A quirky interior, one up one down stairs & a wide selection of drinks make for a very enjoyable visit. Sat outside on a sunny afternoon is highly recommended.

Bar is nice, very small and cosy making people talk to one another however can tell it's a new bar, no price list up (should be displayed in every bar) one unisex toilet cubicle kept clean shame to see someone has already defaced the walls but wouldn't keep a bottle of bleach next to the toilet should be kept locked away or out of reach of people at least. The beer is over priced for the area £6 for a pint wouldn't mind paying £4 - £4.50 but £6 seems a little too much dosent fit in pricewise with the other bars around. Decor wise very nicely done and overall a nice addition to local heritage area.
