About This Pub

Ah, The Corporation Arms, it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, tucked away on Stockport Road. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this warm, welcoming vibe where the bar staff are dead chatty and up for a bit of banter, making it easy to strike up conversations with whoever's around. I love how it's kept that old-school pub charm, with good music playing and a clean, snug interior that's perfect for settling in on a chilly evening. Prices are fair too, so you won't break the bank for a round, and it's great that they allow dogs – ideal if you're popping in with your furry mate. On the flip side, it's not exactly the place for a big night out; it seems more geared towards a quiet drink or a catch-up if you're in the area, rather than drawing in crowds from afar. Some have mentioned it might not appeal as much to younger folks after something more lively, and without a website, it's a tad frustrating if you want to check opening times or events quickly. Overall, though, with a solid 4.1 rating, it's clear this spot does a cracking job at being a reliable, friendly haunt for those who appreciate the simple pleasures of a good pub.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and welcoming, always up for a chat and some banter which makes you feel right at home.
  • It's got that proper traditional pub feel, with friendly vibes, good music, and a clean, warm space that's perfect for a relaxed catch-up.
  • Prices are spot on for the area, making it an affordable spot for a quick pint or a few drinks, and they're even dog-friendly which is a nice touch.
Cons
  • It doesn't seem to be the go-to place for a lively night out, more suited to locals or a casual stop rather than a destination for something exciting.
  • With no website or online presence, it's a bit tricky to get the latest info or check what's on before heading over.
  • From what folks have said, it might not vibe with younger groups looking for a more upbeat or modern atmosphere.

Called in after work, seemed okay clean enough prices about right for the area. Will go in again. Don't think it's a destination venue but if you live in the area or your passing by and want a quick drink then it's great. It's not young persons pub from what I could see but that's what I liked about it plus its close to my place of work so great for me.
