About This Pub

Oh, The Coach House is one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, folks absolutely love the food – the steaks are cooked to perfection, burgers are a standout, and the Sunday roasts come highly recommended, with one reviewer even saying they're worth every penny at £15. It's got that warm, inviting atmosphere too, especially when the fires are going in winter, and the garden's a treat in the summer for those with little ones in tow. The staff seem spot on, creating a friendly buzz, particularly during events like band nights, which sound like a right laugh. But it's not all perfect; a few mentions of the back room being echoey could put a damper on things if you're trying for a quiet chinwag, and while the mains shine, some sides are a bit underwhelming. Overall, with a stellar 4.7 rating from plenty of happy visitors, I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're after good food and good times, just keep those minor points in mind for the full picture.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food here is top-notch – think juicy steaks cooked just right, incredible burgers, and Sunday roasts that are spot on every time.
  • It's got a really cosy vibe, especially in winter with the fires lit, and in summer, the pub garden with a kids' play area is perfect for families.
  • The atmosphere is always buzzing, with friendly staff and fun events like band nights that make it a great spot for catching up with mates.
Cons
  • The back room can be a tad echoey, which might make it harder to chat comfortably if it's not too busy.
  • Some of the side dishes, like the spinach and chips, are just alright – nothing special to rave about compared to the mains.

Nice little pub, we went for steak which was quite good! Cooked rare as we asked and tasty. The spinach and chips it came with were ok, but nothing to write home about. We were sat in the back, and that room is very echoey even when there's no music playing. They had a lovely saxophone/singer duo who were just a bit loud, but very graciously adjusted the microphones when asked. The whole room could do with some sound baffles or fabric hanging on the walls to just take the edge off. Having said that, the space up at the bar has some tables which was a much quieter space and it was easy to hear conversation while having the music drift in, this is where we would choose to sit in future. While the staff were lovely and friendly the service was quite slow, having ordered at 7.10 we didn't get food until 7.45 which seemed odd as we were the second people there - but it was a burger night, and maybe they weren't set up for steak. We also were not seated at our reserved table, which while fine was odd, and a drink was forgot when the rush started so we had to ask again. Overall, we would go again for a good pub lunch rather than dinner. The pub is not wheelchair accessible at the back due to a step down to the blue room, but if you enter from the garden you might get a chair into the bar area though it could be a squish.

Second visit after the first experience was so good. Went for veggie roast dinner which is exactly that! Yorkshire, roasties, cauliflower cheese, cabbage, broccoli, parsnips and mash swede and carrot. Cooked to perfection (never over cooked) £15 and worth every penny. Rebellion hazy to accompany and partner had lamb with similar trimmings but peas mashed to die for. All fresh and hot which is a must for me. Considering the size of the pub and covers they have on Sunday you’ll need to book in advance. Customer service is welcoming but not intrusive. Kid friendly out back with quiet section in front. All in all perfect Sunday lunch venue and will consider going during week as menu has a lot of great ideas suiting most palates. Thank you - we will be back.

One of my favourite pubs to visit.. consistently great food (the burgers are incredible and don’t even get me started on the scotch egg and ham egg and chips (trust me on this). In the winter the fires are lit and the bar is cosy and friendly. In the summer, the pub garden (with a kids play area) is fabulous and the vibe is always relaxed and easy going.

Love, love, love this pub. I come here regularly with a group of friends and we always have a great time. Food never misses the mark - always delicious. We love the steak night and Sunday roast is second to none. Band and burger night is really good fun and the atmosphere is buzzing. Front of house staff are brilliant. Looking forward to our next visit. Would well recommend.

A brilliant experience. We visited for the first time recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. The meatballs and Scotch egg for starters were great, the mains (roast salmon and roast beef), were perfect, and for puddings, you can't beat a bit of sticky toffee and apple crumble. Would happily return.
