About This Pub
Ah, The Clock House in West Bromwich – it's one of those places that really hits the mark when it's on form, you know? From what I've gathered chatting about it, the grub is a highlight; think hearty breakfasts that leave you chuffed for the price, and dishes like chicken and egg fried rice that folks are raving about. The bar's got a good selection too, with pints and drinks that won't break the bank, and it's perfect if you're planning a casual do or even a surprise bash upstairs – the staff pulled out all the stops for one 60th party, making it feel special with their helpful attitude. But, let's be straight, it's not all sunshine; a few have had off days with service, like not getting a proper hello or dealing with grumpy responses over simple changes to orders. Still, with an overall rating hovering around 4.2, it's clear the good outweighs the bad for most. If you're popping in, I'd say go for the food and atmosphere, but maybe keep expectations in check for the service – it's a solid choice for a bite and a bevvy, as long as you're up for a bit of the rough with the smooth.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food here is spot on, especially the breakfasts – I've heard they're absolutely brilliant for the price, with one mate raving about how amazing they are.
-
Service can be top-notch when it's good; a few folks mentioned the staff being helpful and going the extra mile, like sorting out events without any fuss.
-
It's a cracking spot for a pint or a get-together – the bar's well-stocked with reasonably priced drinks, and the atmosphere feels fresh and modern after their recent spruce-up.
-
Overall, it's got a solid vibe with plenty of positive vibes from visitors, making it a reliable choice for a casual meal or night out.
Cons
-
Customer service isn't always up to scratch; one person had a right nightmare with their order, like not getting the substitutions they asked for and ending up with extra beans instead of hash browns.
-
There might not be that warm welcome you'd expect – a couple of reviews mentioned no greeting when walking in, which can put a bit of a dampener on things.
-
It seems a bit hit or miss with consistency; while some visits are great, others fall flat, so you might not know what you're in for each time.
-
With a few mixed reviews, it's clear there are areas where they could improve to make every visit feel as welcoming as possible.

Ordered 2 large breakfasts from clock house today and the customer service was very bad, I asked for no mushrooms and to have another hash brown as a substitute the peson at the bar said hash browns are more expensive and that he will give extra beans instead. The 2 breakfast came and their was no tomatoes neither which I was not told when ordering that they had ran out. I was then told I have got extra beans as their are no tomatoes. Had to write this review as principle. Rather go to Great Western Cafe down the road were the food is on point and the customer service is much better.
I was recommended this place by a friend to try their breakfast and it was absolutely amazing for the price

Good service. Good pint off carling. Chicken bait and egg fried rice and chips great 👍
We threw a surprise 60th party here in the upstairs room recently. The staff and owner were brilliant. It’s all just been decorated too so everything is nice, new and modern. Nothing was too much trouble. The bar was well stocked and drinks reasonably priced. We’ve already booked up for our next event in a few months.
I checked this place out on Google, food looked nice cocktails too, so I decided to book a table for two. Although there was a few bad reviews I still booked.
When arrived there was no greeting guest which normally happens when you go out to eat,
I went to the bar 2 ordered drinks. Which the guy told me he will being over to my table. I seen my table as I arrived so the guest I brought sat down.
Drinks looked great but took a while considering it wasn't very busy there was people there but appeared to look like family or friends of the people running the venue as one was helping himself to drinks and going back and forth from bar, table with guests and on pool table.
I sat at my table for ages no1 came over to the table i then went up to bar and asked have I got to order food at the bar, well they said yess which was rather odd considering I've booked a table.
Drinks was brought over to the table, I then paid for them straight away
When at the bar and ordered food I paid for that straight away.
So no table service atall yano where you dine out and then pay the bill.
Eventually food came out which was great looked amazing
Looked like the chef had brought the food out as there is no waiter service.
Food tasted great I can't fault the food
Cocktails great 2 for £10
Double spirts good pricing too
Good value for money
I ordered more drinks the lady who served me seemed okay
Me and my guests eyes was bigger than our belly so was lots of food still left.
The lady who served me drinks previously was walking around the venue she came by my table I said excuse me... no response so I just said can I get this to take away please. Well if looks could kill with the terrible fake lashes she was wearing that looked like there was living mities on loooooool there wasnt of course but they are terribly done and she thought she looked amazing... Her attitude was very poor customer service she has zero skills... none, zilch, nilqwa people skills and should not work in hospitality industry. And way she trotted off into the kitchen area, a few moments later a different lady came out with takeaway boxes, I made a pretty terrible joke at the time but lady look like she's being used for slave labour as her skills was poor too. No interaction with paying customer. Unless she was just copying in house behaviour.
From an outsiders point of view this looks like a cover. If you get what I mean use the business to launder money. Hahaha
Football was on the TVs when we arrived.
we wasn't impressed with but let it slide until the rest of the service was poor.
I've never been out to eat and football is on the TV not nice atall to be honest.
This should be listed as a sports bar that sales Indian food, Not cocktail bar.
Due to atmosphere we did not bother to stay for more drinks.
I would NEVER dine here every again based on the customer service, customer service a very important part of many roles hospitality being on of the top 5.
They should no about customer service when running a business.
No customer service from any of staff
Very disappointing it lets the place down drastically as this could be a really nice place.. best to just stick to getting take out from here.
If you want restaurant service I suggest you go elsewhere as you won't get any of that in here.
As a Google guide this is the review I've enjoyed doing the most.
