About This Pub

Ah, The Cherry Tree at Blackrod – what a gem for a laid-back evening out with mates or the family. From what I've gathered, it's got this really welcoming feel right from the off, with staff who are genuinely attentive and full of helpful suggestions, like that Bradley chap who made someone's birthday meal extra special. The food's generally spot on, with plenty of choices that go down a treat, and those little surprises like a card or a glass of Prosecco really make you smile and add to the homely atmosphere. It's no wonder it's got such a strong reputation – the place is clean as a whistle and buzzing with good vibes. But, let's be straight, it's not perfect; a few folks have mentioned that some dishes, like the steak or that platter, didn't quite hit the mark for the price, feeling a tad overpriced or just not as impressive as hoped. Still, if you're after a reliable spot for a decent meal and some proper hospitality, I'd say give it a go – just manage your expectations on the wallet side, and you'll likely have a cracking time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The service is absolutely top-notch; staff like Bradley go above and beyond with recommendations and thoughtful touches, making you feel right at home.
  • They've got some cracking food options, with delicious dishes that hit the spot, especially for family gatherings or special occasions like birthdays.
  • It's a proper family-friendly spot with lovely extras like birthday cards and free Prosecco, which add a real warm, welcoming vibe.
  • The place is spotlessly clean and well-decorated, giving it a fresh and inviting atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxed meal out.
  • With a solid overall rating, it's clear this pub knows how to keep visitors coming back for more good times.
Cons
  • Some dishes feel a bit overpriced for what you get, like the Surf and Turf Platter that didn't quite match up to the cost.
  • Not every meal is a winner; for instance, the steak left one visitor disappointed, so it might not always live up to the hype.
  • While the food's nice enough, it doesn't always blow you away in terms of quality versus the price tag, which could leave you wanting more bang for your buck.
  • There might be inconsistencies in portions or overall satisfaction, as a few have mentioned it didn't quite meet expectations for the money spent.

We went to the cherry tree on Monday for my daughter's birthday. She was given a birthday card when she got to the table which is a lovely touch. The food was delicious and the service second to none. Bradley could not have been more attentive and made excellent recommendations. Thank you Bradley. We will definitely be returning.

Not been to this place for a while, and now I know why. We had garlic bread to share to start, which was really nice to be honest. My daughter then went on to have pizza which she devoured, and my wife had the chicken schnitzel which again was nice. I went for the steak and was extremely disappointed at £32.95 maybe I was expecting too much. I asked for it rare and when my flat mushroom size steak arrived it was far from that. I would have expected a great place like this to be able to sort that out. The staff were amazing and the surroundings were equally good. Won't be back for a while I'm afraid.

I’ve just visited the cherry tree with my mum for Mother’s Day and couldn’t not write a review. We were first greeted each with a card for Mother’s Day and a small bottle of Prosecco which none of us were expecting that had us both choked up. The food was lovely and we had plenty of choice on the set menu. We opted for the roast beef which I would highly recommend should you ever want a nice Sunday dinner. The staff couldn’t do more for us. We were looked after by Dylan who was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed but I couldn’t believe the customer service throughout the whole experience. I think every single staff member we passed on the way in and on the way out whether it was waiting on staff or behind the bar all made eye contact and said hello and wished us a nice evening which just adds to an already great experience. We will be sure to visit again very soon.

We got the Surf and Turf Platter which was nice but overpriced for the amount you get. 2 lots of fries with it when it needed more of the other things. The food was nice enough but didn't blow me away. The staff were really attentive and I can't fault them but for the price paid vs the quality/amount of food, you are better off heading into Manchester in my opinion.

First time at this place and wow! The staff are amazing, the decor, choice of food, so clean and tidy..could not fault one bit. Every person I mention this place too says how good it is and I can see why. Even wished my nan a happy birthday with a glass of Prosecco and cake without even being asked. Best restaurant in a long time
