About This Pub

Ah, The Cedar Wood – it's one of those unassuming pubs in Rutherglen that you stumble upon and end up enjoying more than you expected. From what I've gathered from the chats online, the staff really shine here; they're warm, helpful, and make you feel like a regular from the get-go, which is just what you want after a long day. The prices are spot on for a casual outing, and they've got a nice setup for functions with decent food that doesn't cost the earth. It's clean as a whistle too, with that homely village pub feel that draws you in for a proper pint. But, let's be honest, it's not without its downsides – it can come across as a bit too quiet at times, especially without any background music to liven things up, and without a website, it's tricky to plan a visit in advance. Overall, though, if you're in Glasgow and fancy a straightforward, welcoming spot for a drink or a gathering, it's worth popping in; just keep in mind it might not be the most buzzing place if you're after a lively night.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and welcoming, always ready with a smile and a chat that makes you feel right at home.
  • It's got that classic village pub vibe, with a good pint and reasonable prices that won't break the bank for a night out.
  • The place is spotlessly clean and well-kept, which really adds to the cosy, comfortable atmosphere.
  • They handle functions brilliantly, with nice food and a welcoming setup for events like parties.
  • It's a proper local spot where you can enjoy a drink in peace, especially if you're after something straightforward and unpretentious.
Cons
  • It can feel a tad quiet without any overhead music, which might leave things a bit lacking in atmosphere on slower nights.
  • No website or online presence means it's not the easiest to get details or check what's on before heading over.
  • Based on recent feedback, it doesn't seem to have much buzz lately, which could make it feel a bit under the radar.

Visited tonight for the first time in years considering i live round the corner, but was recommended to visit by a friend. Quite a few about very nice staff and a good pint. The only negative thing which wouldnt stop me visiting was the lack of overhead music to give it a bit of atmosphere. Staff lovely and owner a gentleman. Love popping in before going for dinner.
