About This Pub

Ah, The Bulls Well – it's one of those hidden gems in Bulwell that I've heard so many good things about from folks who've popped in. From what I've gathered from the buzz around, it's got this inviting, homely feel where you can sink into a chat without any fuss, and the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome, which is just lovely for a casual evening. The drinks are reliably good, with a nice selection of real ales that cater to those who appreciate a proper pint, and it's clear from the reviews that it's a favourite for showing off to visitors or enjoying a bit of music in the background. On the flip side, it's a smaller spot, so if you're after somewhere with more room to spread out, you might find it a bit snug during peak times, and not every beer will suit all tastes – some have said it's not their top pick, but hey, that's pub life for you. Plus, with no online presence to speak of, it's worth checking the hours in advance, as it's not open every day. All in all, if you're in Nottingham and fancy a pint in a place that's got heart and character, I'd say give it a go – it's got that 4.7 rating for a reason, and it's bound to leave you with a smile.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely spot on – it's warm, friendly, and makes you feel right at home, just like chatting with mates down the local.
  • Staff are brilliant; they're welcoming and always up for a good natter, which really adds to the charm.
  • Drinks are spot on, especially the real ales – plenty of options from local breweries that hit the mark for a proper pint.
  • It's got a great vibe with decent music, making it a top spot to bring visitors or catch up with friends.
  • The little features, like that Nottingham-built safe, give it a unique touch that makes it stand out from the crowd.
Cons
  • As a micro-pub, space can feel a tad cosy, especially if it's busy, so it might not suit larger groups all the time.
  • The beer selection might not be everyone's cup of tea, as some folks have mentioned it's hit or miss with certain breweries.
  • No website means it's a bit tricky to check opening times or what's on offer without popping in or searching elsewhere.
  • It's only open five days a week, which could be a downer if you're planning a visit on a quiet weekend.

This is one of my favourite places to go in Bulwell. The atmosphere is good, the music is great, the drinks are good and the staff are wonderful. Whenever we have people visiting we always make sure to try and bring them here for a drink.

The is a cracking micro-pub. It's been open about a year but is already popular and relatively well known (except to taxi drivers!). I was there for a special occasion so used the function room only that they have upstairs. Whilst not a huge space, it can accommodate 40-50 people. If you have that many though, don't expect to be able to use the small dance floor!!! Drinks are obviously not as varied as what the have in the main bar, but prices are great. Only £1 for cans of soft drinks, just over £3 for draft beer and a tenner for a bottle of wine. Would also recommend using their catering too. We all enjoyed what was provided. As it's a small place, music is provided via Bluetooth from someone's phone to a speaker. The benefit is though that you get whatever genre you'd like, depending on the occasion.
