About This Pub

Ah, The Britannia – it's one of those classic pubs in Boston that you might stumble upon for a pint and end up having a right laugh. From the reviews, it sounds like the staff really know how to make you feel at home, with mentions of a chap named Dylan who's spot on for creating that warm, chatty atmosphere. Throw in some karaoke nights and it's a fun spot to let your hair down, plus it's great that they welcome dogs, which is always a bonus if you're out and about with yours. On the flip side, though, there's that worrying bit about not keeping a proper eye on ages, which could put a dampener on things and make you think twice about bringing the family. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening if you're in the area, but it does have its rough edges – like any old boozer, really. I'd say give it a go, but keep your expectations balanced and maybe check it out on a busy night to catch the good vibes.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are really friendly and welcoming, like that Dylan who's been mentioned for making the place feel lively.
  • It's got a great atmosphere, especially with fun events like karaoke that get everyone in the mood for a good night.
  • Being dog-friendly is a lovely touch – perfect if you're popping in with your four-legged mate.
  • It's right in the heart of Boston, making it dead convenient for a quick drink after a wander around.
Cons
  • There have been some serious slip-ups with age checks, like letting in someone underage even after it was pointed out – that's not ideal at all.
  • It might not click for everyone; a few have said it's not quite their style, feeling a bit ordinary or not up to scratch.
  • With mixed reviews over the years, it seems the buzz has dipped lately, as there haven't been many recent positive comments.

Yeah, can't go far wrong with The Britannia, it's an old faithful. Used to use it in my youth when old Len Osbourne used to run it. Later in life I also helped to run it, and now Bev who runs it, she's great. Nice boozer.

Went out there on Christmas eve, was quite busy, karaoke was going on which created a fun atmosphere, great place to go for a couple of drinks in Boston, went out in Boston only once but it was definitely my favourite place of that night
