About This Pub

Ah, The Bridge Tavern – it's one of those Manchester spots that's got that comforting, old-school pub charm, you know? I've been hearing from folks that the bar team are absolute gems, always up for a chat and making you feel welcome, which is just what you want after a long day. The beers can be a highlight too, especially if you're into a proper pint like the Taylor's Boltmaker; it's got that satisfying taste that'll keep you coming back. Plus, with the outside seating, it's brilliant for a sunny afternoon pint. On the flip side, though, prices are a bit steep for what you get, and some drinks like Guinness just don't hit the mark, which is a shame. Then there's the music that can crank up too loud, making it hard to catch up with your mates, and a couple of stories about less than polite service that might leave you a tad frustrated. Overall, it's a decent choice for a quick stop-off near Deansgate, but maybe not for a full evening out – keep your expectations realistic and you'll likely have a good time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are really friendly and welcoming, which makes you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • It's got that classic traditional pub atmosphere, perfect for a quick pint or a relaxed catch-up with mates.
  • They've got some decent beers on tap, like Taylor's Boltmaker, which I've heard is a solid choice for ale lovers.
  • There's outside seating in the back yard, great for when the weather's nice and you fancy a bit of fresh air.
Cons
  • Drinks can be a bit on the pricey side, even for Manchester standards, so it might hit the wallet harder than expected.
  • Some of the beers, like Guinness, aren't up to scratch and can be disappointing if that's your go-to.
  • The music can get too loud at times, making it tricky to have a proper chat without raising your voice.
  • Service isn't always spot on – a few folks have mentioned rude encounters, which puts a damper on things.
  • The decor is pretty basic and unremarkable, so it might not be the place for a long linger; more of a stop-in-and-out spot.

Called in with a friend for a quick drink. First visit around 5:20pm. Quiet bar but relaxing. Friendly barman. Its hard to talk about the atmosphere as most people are heading home after a days work. We were out celebrating each others birthday and we had a table booked at Dishoom further down Bridge St. for 5:45pm. It was literally a quick drink. That said I enjoyed the quiet away from the busy traffic outside. I'll certainly call in again. It didnt look like a place that served food but I could be wrong.

The drinks are quite expensive even for Manchester. The Guinness is below average. Staff were friendly, but music was way too loud.

I’m a regular customer and then I give him 5 to 6 noughts and the staff were so rudely and they’re saying a fake note. I can’t believe the staff have a fake pan and cheating with a customer. If they want to, I prove it I’m not a person like dodgy So make sure tell the staff or train the staff properly don’t do it with the customer like this Because the scene had too much money on my pocket, that’s why they’re doing it

A traditional average pub just off Deansgate, Manchester. Nothing of significance to comment on just average in every way. Basic in decor, feels like a place you call in for 1 drink then move on, I wouldn't want to linger. We had good service but it was very quiet. £12.60 for a pint of Timothy Holt Landlord and a medium glass of Zinfandel, seems expensive but it is in Manchester City Center.

Been here a few times over the years. Good traditional pub opened out to one large through room. Outside seating in the back yard. We were only customers on a wet afternoon. Two Taylor's beers on handpump. Landlord and Boltmaker. Albrech ordered Boltmaker. A good pint. The Madri was poor. A few customers started to roll in as evening drew in.
