About This Pub
Ah, The Bricklayers – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Altrincham, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, folks really rave about the unbeatable drink deals and how it's such a relaxed spot for sinking a pint without breaking the bank. The staff sound like absolute stars, always up for a chat and making everyone feel welcome, which is spot on for building that community spirit. It's brilliant for watching live sports or joining in on the fun with things like darts and parties – I can imagine it getting quite the lively crowd on match days. On the flip side, it's pretty straightforward and traditional, so if you're hoping for a fancy meal or something a bit more polished, it might not quite hit the mark; it's more about the drinks than the dining. Still, with an overall rating hovering around 4.2 and recent reviews singing its praises for being the friendliest spot in town, I'd say it's a solid choice for a casual get-together. All in all, it's got that honest, down-to-earth charm that makes you want to pop in for a quick one and end up staying for the evening – just remember to check the times if you're planning ahead!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The drinks are incredibly affordable, with cheap beers and great value offers that make it a wallet-friendly spot for a pint or two.
-
The staff are absolutely lovely – always welcoming and friendly, which really makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's got that proper community vibe, with locals who add to the character and fun activities like darts, live sports, and even the odd party to keep things lively.
-
A traditional pub setup with live entertainment and outside areas, perfect for catching up with mates over a game of football or rugby on the telly.
Cons
-
It might come across as a bit basic or no-frills compared to fancier venues, so if you're after something more upscale or with a wide food menu, it could fall short.
-
The focus is heavily on drinks rather than food, which means options for a proper meal are limited – more of a place for a quick bite or just sticking to the bevvies.
-
It can get quite busy during events or match days, potentially making it a tad noisy or crowded if you're after a quiet evening.

Cheap beer! Good normal pub, not trying to be something it isn't! Locals all looked like characters!
Jo and all the staff here are wonderful kind and always make me feel welcome. I love my blackcurrant and soda water. They only charge 30p a glass. Thanks everyone.
Friendliest pub in town.
Hands down.
Brilliant friendly funny staff play darts dance organiser party 🎉🎉🎂
Came here with Icarus and three others on a mid December 2023 Thursday afternoon. Had a great couple of hours in this traditional pub. (First ever visit. I think United legend Pat Crerand used to own it...He is 84 and could probably put more effort into a game than some of the current players.) It is a Craft Union pub and thus exceptional value. A pint of Wainwright Gold for £2.50, about a tenner for two pints and two generous wines. Hope to return soon for another pint or three. Outside space on front patio.
