About This Pub
Ah, The Brewery Tap – it's one of those places that just hits the spot if you're after a proper pint without all the fuss. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the beers are an absolute highlight; they've got this brilliant range of their own multi-award-winning brews, plus ciders and spirits from local mates, making it a real treat for anyone who appreciates a well-kept ale. The staff sound like a lovely bunch, always up for a chat and making sure you feel right at home, which adds to that warm, welcoming vibe. It's got a nice relaxed lounge feel, ideal for catching up with mates over a few drinks and some tasty local snacks, and there's even a quieter room upstairs if you want to escape the buzz. On the flip side, though, a couple of folks have mentioned issues with the opening times not always matching up with what's on the website, which could leave you stood outside on a day you were counting on a visit. Plus, with it only being open six days a week, it might not be the most flexible option if you're out and about midweek. Overall, it's a solid choice for a laid-back beer session, but I'd say give it a go if you're in the area – just pop a quick message or check online first to avoid any disappointments.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
Fantastic selection of craft beers, with multi-award-winning ales and a great range of keg options that really showcase their passion for brewing.
-
Super friendly staff who always greet you with a warm smile and make the place feel like a proper welcoming spot for a catch-up.
-
Relaxed and cosy atmosphere, perfect for a chilled-out evening without any distractions like TVs or games – just good vibes and light background music.
-
Excellent value for money, with rock-bottom prices on drinks and some lovely local snacks like pork pies and crisps to nibble on.
-
Handy upstairs area for a quieter space if you fancy a more intimate chat over your pint.
Cons
-
Opening times can be a bit unreliable at times, as one review mentioned it was shut when the website said it should be open – always best to check ahead.
-
Only open six days a week, which might not suit everyone if you're planning a midweek visit and fancy a pint on that closed day.
-
It might feel a tad quiet or basic for those after a more lively pub experience, since there are no gimmicks or entertainment options on offer.

I travelled from Upholland to visit this bar on Tuesday 15th April 2025. Their website said the opening times on Tuesday was 2pm - 10pm. At 3.30pm it was closed. Thanks a lot guys!! 😡😡😡
Excellent pub offering beers and lagers from the Black Edge Brewery. Consistently well-kept beer 🍺
Best bar in Westhoughton, with the warmest welcome.
Lauren and her staff are a credit to themselves , The Brewery Tap and Blackedge Brewery.
There is always an excellent variety of cask and keg beers on.
If you drop lucky the legendary " PIKE " will be on . "The Perfect Pint Every Time "
Such a welcoming pub with a formidable choice of Black Edge ales brewed up the road in Horwich. Really top class service and rock bottom prices. A quieter room upstairs - so too are the toilets.
Really nice place, fantastic selection of 10 keg ales and 9 cask (plus ciders if that's your thing). Lots of seating both downstairs and upstairs.
