About This Pub

Ah, The Bolthole—it's one of those unassuming micropubs that just hits the spot when you're in the mood for something low-key and local. From what I've gathered chatting about it with others, the staff really go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, and the drink selection is spot on, with plenty of cracking beers and gins to choose from. The outside area is brilliant for a sunny afternoon, and those community events like the pub quiz add a nice touch of fun without it getting too rowdy. On the flip side, it's not the most convenient if you're not nearby, and their booking system can be a bit of a hassle if you're not planning ahead. Plus, with closures on Mondays and earlier evenings, it might not suit if you're after a proper night out. All in all, though, it's a solid choice for a chilled evening—honestly, if you're in the area, give it a go; you'll likely leave with a smile and maybe even a new favourite spot.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of drinks, from a great range of beers and gins to something for every taste.
  • The outside seating is a real treat on warmer days, giving you that lovely al fresco vibe without leaving the neighbourhood.
  • It's got a proper community feel, with events like the monthly pub quiz that bring people together and make it more than just a quick stop.
  • Being dog-friendly means you can pop in with your furry mate, which is always a bonus for us animal lovers.
Cons
  • It's a bit tucked away, so if you're not local, it might not be the easiest spot to get to, which is a shame for those further afield.
  • Booking can be a tad fiddly—they only check emails twice a day and insist on advance notices for inside tables, which might lead to disappointment if you're spontaneous.
  • They're closed on Mondays and have early evenings during the week, so it's not ideal if you're after a late-night hangout.
  • The bar shuts 30 minutes before closing time, which can feel a bit rushed when you're trying to savour that last pint.

Great venue for a local drink and get together, or on route to the 2 local restaurants great to meet up prior or after. Wide choice of drinks. Lovely outside location for drinks.

Hard to imagine what the community of Falconwood would do without this cheery little boozer. Friendly staff, good drinks, and a fantastic pub quiz every month. They make the most of the space they have with a buzzing front room, bright and airy back room, and a covered front for summer days.

A great little pub, tucked away within the housing estate surrounding The Green. Polite and friendly staff and a decent range of beers. Outside seating for those warmer days too. I didn't eat so no rating for food, but the beer was good. They also have a good range of gins too.

Lovely pint of Goffs beer. Very welcoming bar staff and it is a pity it is not closer to my home.
