About This Pub

Ah, The Bell Inn – it's one of those pubs that just warms your heart the moment you step inside, like bumping into old friends for a chat over a pint. I've got to say, what really stands out is the brilliant atmosphere; the staff are dead welcoming, and the customers add to that genuine, community feel that you don't find everywhere these days. The food's a winner too – those breakfasts are cooked fresh and offer fantastic value, and if you're lucky, you might catch some live music or relax in the outdoor area on a sunny day. It's affordable and keeps things simple, which is perfect for a relaxed evening without any fuss. On the flip side, though, there have been a couple of moans about strict ID checks that might not sit well with everyone, and it's a shame the hours aren't more straightforward, as it could catch you out. Overall, it's a solid spot with more highs than lows, and I'd reckon it's worth a visit if you're after a proper, down-to-earth pub experience in Coventry – just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a great time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely brilliant – it's warm, welcoming, and feels like a proper old-school pub where everyone gets along.
  • The staff are top-notch; they're friendly and make you feel right at home, just like chatting with mates behind the bar.
  • They've got some cracking food options, like those fresh-cooked breakfasts that are fantastic value and really hit the spot.
  • Live music on the last Sunday of the month adds a lovely touch, and the outdoor area is perfect for soaking up the summer vibes.
  • It's affordable and unpretentious, making it a great spot for a casual pint without breaking the bank.
Cons
  • There might be some hiccups with their ID policies, which could put a dampener on things if you're not prepared.
  • It seems like the operating hours aren't clearly listed, which could leave you hanging if you're planning a visit.
  • Based on one experience, service isn't always consistent, and that could lead to a bit of frustration now and then.

I actually really like this pub. It's a proper pub, like from the old days, no frills, no judgement, come as you are for a beer with your friends. It's not a dress up destination selling over priced booze. It's a proper cheaper homely boozer

The owner knows my son is over 18 as he has shown his I’d several times. Insists he needs to carry it at all times and won serve him without out. Don’t have this problem in any other pub and it’s not the law either. I’ve now put this pub on my banned list. Last 3 times I’ve been I’ve ended up in the old sepherd which is a far superior and more welcoming pub anyway.
