About This Pub

You know, I had a look at The Bell Inn the other day, and it's got that real warm, welcoming vibe you'd expect from a pub that's been around since 1557 – it's like stepping into a piece of history right by the Thames. They've picked up some cracking awards, like being named the best in South West London, and from what I've seen, the food really shines, particularly those Sunday roasts that folks rave about; they're packed with flavour and made from fresh, local bits. The beer garden is an absolute treat too, with those views making it ideal for a catch-up over a drink or two. But, and I say this as a mate who's just being straight with you, it's not all perfect – a couple of reviews mentioned service that felt a bit off, like staff not being as attentive as they could be, and there were gripes about some dishes falling flat, which is a pity when the rest is so good. Still, with an overall rating hovering around 4.1, it's worth popping in if you're nearby, just go with an open mind and maybe stick to the crowd-pleasers for a solid night out.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is generally top-notch, especially those Sunday roasts which are cooked to perfection with tasty, fresh ingredients
  • It's got stunning views of the River Thames and a lovely beer garden that's perfect for a relaxing pint on a sunny day
  • The staff are often friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home in this historic spot
  • They've got an excellent selection of drinks, from great ales to something a bit more special, and it's all backed by some impressive awards
Cons
  • Service can be a bit hit or miss, with some reports of staff being less than cheerful on occasion
  • A few dishes might not live up to expectations, like that disappointing lamb stew someone mentioned – it's a shame when things go awry
  • The overall experience has varied over time, with some folks noticing that the food quality isn't quite what it used to be

We attended the Bell twice on our uk holiday... and shows that sometimes one should reconsider plans. The first event was a meal for 4 and the food was great, the 2 surly waitresses that were working the table made us feel as if we owed the privilege of dining there. The same two were there a week later when we went with a larger group with friends for drinks and some nibbles, They made it very clear that our clientele were not very welcome...a number of times. They havent figured yet that how you serve people and attitude of warmth is the message of welcome...maybe one day. I will give a positive call out to the young man working Sunday afternoon who was at least an ambassador to be proud of. Which is why it is not a one star review.

The Bell Inn offers everything you’d expect from a “quality” pub. Simon manages a professional and friendly team (Sue, Beth, Anabel and others) who offer a friendly welcome every time you walk in. The seasonal menu provides a wide range of home cooked food to tantalise your taste buds! There is even a dedicated chiller cabinet for your lager glasses so you can be assured of a cold pint. A must on a hot day! All in all The Bell Inn ticks all the right boxes. Enjoy your visit!

Best Roast Locally! We’ve been here several times for Sunday roast, the kids absolutely loved it! My partner loved it as did I. My Roast Beef on both occasions was fantastic—so tasty, cooked medium rare to perfection, with delicious veg, crispy potatoes, and rich gravy. Simply outstanding. I usually visit in the evenings for drinks, and the staff and beer are always on point. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with great views of the River Thames and a lovely garden at the rear. A huge thank you to Simon, Dhruv, and the team for making this such a great pub!

Went for Sunday Roast today. Had the roast beef which was fantastic as were all the trimmings. Our server, Olivia, was first class, polite, attentive, knowledgeable and very welcoming - nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend

Local pub to me have been visiting for 3 years now. Staff has changed a lot but they are always nice and friendly there. Food used to be a lot better back than. Mexican platter (nachos) aren't what they used to be there is more cheese sauce then actual cheese. Portion is nice and big thought. I've had a burger there yesterday after a while it fall apart and was really soggy didn't enjoy eating it, it couldn't be eaten with hands.
