About This Pub

Ah, The Bell in Hampton – it's one of those classic pubs that feels like a reliable old mate, you know? With a 3.9 rating, it's clear that plenty of folks have had some good times there, whether it's for a hearty meal with friends or just sinking a pint by the Thames. I love how it's open seven days a week from around 11 AM, making it perfect for a spontaneous catch-up or a lazy weekend session. On the upside, a couple of reviews rave about enjoyable evenings, so if you're after that warm, welcoming pub atmosphere, it could be just the ticket. But let's be honest, it's not all roses – there are tales of dodgy service, like staff who seem a bit out of their depth, and complaints about grub that's more miss than hit, with one person calling it unimaginative and even spotting dirty cutlery. Plus, it can get a bit rowdy and loud, which might spoil a nice chat. Overall, if you're in the area and fancy a no-fuss spot, give it a go, but maybe keep your expectations in check and head elsewhere if you're after something top-notch.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's got a solid overall rating of 3.9, which suggests quite a few people have enjoyed their visits and found it a reliable spot for a relaxed outing.
  • From what I've seen, you can have a really enjoyable meal here with mates, especially if you're up for some classic pub grub in a friendly setting.
  • Being open every day from around 11 AM makes it dead convenient for popping in after a walk or for a cheeky pint on a Sunday afternoon.
Cons
  • There are some gripes about the service, like untrained staff and even dirty cutlery, which could put a dampener on your evening.
  • The menu seems a bit lacklustre and poorly executed according to one review, so it might not hit the spot if you're after something more inventive.
  • It can get a tad too noisy, making it tricky to have a proper chat over your meal, as one person mentioned.
  • There's a bit of confusion with what the place offers – someone expected Japanese vibes but found none, so it might not live up to certain expectations.

We had an awful early evening dinner at the Bell in Hampton on Monday We took some American relatives there hoping to find an improvement on our previous visit. Unfortunately not, dirty cutlery, staff obviously hadn't had any training. The menu unimaginative and poorly executed, my wife mentioned how quiet it was for a Bank holiday and we certainly found out why. Such a shame that such a Wonderful position for a restaurant/pub is wasted. We won't be dining there again.
