About This Pub

Ah, The Beehive – it's one of those classic Wetherspoon spots that you can't help but appreciate for keeping things affordable and accessible in the heart of London. I love how it's tucked away near the tube and all the buzz of Brixton, making it ideal for a quick stop before or after catching a gig or just wandering about. The friendly staff and that warm, chatty atmosphere really make you feel at home, and let's not forget the wallet-friendly prices – grabbing a pint for less than two pounds is still a joy, even if they've crept up a bit over the years. On the flip side, it's not without its downsides; some areas look a tad worn out, and the toilets can be a bit of a letdown, which might make you think twice about lingering too long. Plus, if there's an event on nearby, it turns into a bit of a squeeze, so you might end up standing with your drink. All in all, if you're after a straightforward, budget-friendly pub experience without the frills, it's worth giving it a go – just keep your expectations realistic and you'll have a good time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The prices are absolutely brilliant – you can get a pint for under two quid, which is a real treat in London these days.
  • It's in a super convenient spot, right near the tube and places like the David Bowie memorial, making it easy to pop in for a quick one.
  • The staff are really friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming, with people chatting away and a nice vibe overall.
  • Quick service means you won't be waiting around too long, even when it's busy.
  • They've got a good range of drinks, including some non-alcoholic options, which is great if you're driving or just fancy something different.
Cons
  • Some parts of the place can feel a bit shabby, like it's seen better days in certain spots.
  • The toilets aren't always up to scratch, which can put a damper on things.
  • Drinks might not always taste quite right – I've heard a few tales of cider that didn't hit the spot.
  • It gets absolutely packed during events at nearby venues, so finding a seat can be a challenge.

Not my favourite spoons ,quite shabby in places,my cider tasted funny, and the toilets were nasty. The booths were the nicest feature. If you're on a quest to tick of every Wetherspoons then make the journey, if not I wouldn't bother.

I was in the area and stopped off for a breakfast. The atmosphere was friendly, people talking to staff and other patrons - it had a nice, welcoming vibe. I got a seat and table straight away. I ordered the large breakfast and a hot chocolate drink. Unfortunately the hot chocolate machine was not working. Quite common in Wetherspoons. A staff member helped out and in the end they put some powder into my cup. I ended up ordering just a hot milk refill after that. Bit of a shame as it was £1.71. The breakfast was really tasty and well cooked. The only thing that let it down was the two 1/4 slice pieces of toast underneath the two half slices. Can’t fault the staff though. They were very friendly and I am sure they would have replaced the toast if I had asked.

My very first concert was at the Brixton Academy and this was where we went before and after. The Beehive is directly en-route from the Tube station. Being a chain pub, it's reasonably priced with a decent range of non-alcoholic drinks and an interesting carpet. Loved that they had Peach Sugar Free Monster and chose this venue to meet up with other online fans. The only downside is it's not the most accessible place and the toilets are rather grim if you arrive late in the afternoon. It's a favourite with locals too, and feels like every other pub in London on a warm day.

Characterful tiny bar off brixton High Street straddled between Electric Brixton and O2 Academy, meaning it's crammed when events are on at either. The cheapest prices I've ever seen with £1.79 for the pint of Stowford press. Quick service.
