About This Pub

Ah, The Barlow Arms – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its friendly charm. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff go out of their way to make everyone feel at home, which really sets the tone for a relaxed evening. The drinks are spot on, with a solid range of options that won't empty your wallet, and it's clear folks love popping in for a pre-match tipple or just a casual catch-up. That community spirit shines through, especially with the clean surroundings and thoughtful touches like the modern extension and beer garden for sunnier afternoons. On the other hand, if you're not keen on crowds, match days can turn it into a bit of a scrum, and those afternoon opening hours might leave early risers wanting more flexibility. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone after a genuine, down-to-earth pub experience in Liverpool – just plan around the footy schedule for the best visit!

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • They've got a cracking selection of beers and drinks at really affordable prices, perfect for a budget-friendly night out.
  • The atmosphere is spot on, especially on match days, with a lively buzz and friendly regulars that make it feel like a proper community hub.
  • It's kept really clean and tidy, with a nice modern glass extension and a small beer garden that's ideal for enjoying a pint on warmer days.
Cons
  • It can get pretty packed on match days, which might make it a bit overwhelming if you're after a quiet drink.
  • With opening times starting at 1 PM, it's not the best spot for those who fancy an early morning pint.

Met the owners with my daughter, who was visiting from Australia. We were made very welcome. This is a typical welcome from a fantastic pub.

Nice cheap place to drink. Plenary of drink options. Nice enough place, no sticky floors or holes in carpets for example! Only visit on a match day when it’s really busy but always plenty of staff on. Lots of nice regular groups and friendly regulars

Always pop in here for a pre-match drink. Nice clean pub. Good staff and a nice atmosphere. A proper old fashioned pub but with a nice, modern glass extension and a small beer garden for the hotter days
