About This Pub

Ah, Browton's Bar & Bottle Shop – it's one of those hidden gems you stumble upon and end up raving about to mates. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this brilliant range of beers from all over, sourced locally and further afield, so if you're a beer enthusiast, you'll be in your element with the ever-changing stock. The owner really knows his stuff and creates such a friendly vibe that folks keep coming back for more. Throw in some great music and quirky decor, and you've got a relaxed spot perfect for a casual catch-up over a drink. On the flip side, it's a shame there's no draught options, just bottles, which might not hit the spot for everyone. Plus, with it only being open four days a week, you might have to plan around that. Overall, with a solid 4.8 rating from the reviews, it's well worth seeking out if you're in the area – just keep in mind it could do with a bit more online info to make life easier. I'd say give it a go; it's got that charm that makes a good night out.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Fantastic selection of beers from local and international breweries, always changing to keep things fresh
  • The owner is incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in
  • Relaxed and chilled atmosphere with a brilliant array of music and cool knick-knacks that add a nice touch
Cons
  • No beers on draught, so it's all about the bottles, which might not appeal if you're after something poured fresh
  • Only open four days a week, which can make it a bit tricky to pop in on a whim
  • Not much of an online presence, so it's harder to check out the latest on hours or what's on offer before heading over

Popped in for a drink before my local club Rushall played Away to Curzon Ashton. Really chilled and relaxed vibe, as well as a fantastic array of music and cool knick knacks adorning the whole shop / bar. Although there is nothing on draught, the owner will happily decant any drink of choice into a cool cold glass. Went for a couple of the German Pilseners including the Jever which went down a treat. Only disappointment was that I didn't have more time to try a few more flavours. Will hopefully make a return in future seasons but well recommended and can imagine it is rightly busy in evenings.

Always fantastic beer on the shelves which is swapped for a cold one when you take it to the bar. Simon, the owner, is a fantastic bar man and host, I always feel welcomed here. Cannot say a bad word about the place.
