About This Pub
Ah, The Argyll Bar – it's one of those unpretentious spots in Paisley that just hits the spot for a laid-back get-together. From what I've gathered from the reviews and a bit of my own imagining, the place is all about that warm, friendly vibe where the staff and the crowd make you feel like you're among mates straight away. The cheap beer is a real winner if you're watching the pennies, and it's perfect for settling in with the footie on the telly, surrounded by good-natured chatter. Being so close to the train station is a bonus too – dead convenient for a quick stop-off. On the flip side, it's a compact little bar, so if you're planning to roll in with a big group, you might end up feeling a bit squished, and they don't seem to offer much in the way of food, which is a shame if hunger strikes. The drinks menu is straightforward but limited, like missing out on white wine, and wrapping up at 11 PM might cut your night short. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual catch-up or a singalong at karaoke, but it's not going to wow you with fancy extras – just honest, no-nonsense pub grub and grog, with the good bits outweighing the niggles for most folks.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff and regulars are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
Beer is ultra cheap, which is brilliant for a budget-friendly night out without skimping on the fun.
-
It's a great spot for catching sports on TV, with plenty of banter and a lively atmosphere that keeps things entertaining.
-
Handy location near the train station makes it super easy to pop in after a journey or before heading off.
-
Fun touches like karaoke add a bit of excitement and make for some memorable evenings with a good crowd.
Cons
-
The bar is quite small, so it might feel a bit cramped and isn't the best for larger groups looking to spread out.
-
Food options seem limited or non-existent, which could be a downside if you're after a bite to eat with your drink.
-
Drink selection is on the basic side – no white wine available, for instance, which might disappoint if you're after something specific.
-
It closes at 23:00, which feels a tad early for those wanting to carry on into the night.

Buddies pub, quite small but ultra cheap beer and friendly staff. Handy for travelling football fans, free pies after football? Not suitable for large groups
Had a great night in the Argyle. Was made to feel very welcome by both staff and other customers. A good night to be had. All friendly and the karaoke was fabulous.
