About This Pub

Ah, The Keg – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its warm, welcoming vibe, perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates or enjoying a bit of live music on a Friday night. From what I've gathered, the place really shines with its lively events and that new food menu inspired by New York Dive Bars; the dishes are hearty, full of character, and surprisingly good value, especially if you're tucking into something like mac and cheese that even the little ones love. The drinks selection is another highlight – those quality pints at a steal and their unique Hex lager, which pays homage to the Paisley Witches, is just brilliant for a bit of a tipple. The staff are the real gems here, always friendly and ready to make you feel at home, which makes it easy to see why it's a favourite for groups and casual visitors alike. On the flip side, though, it's not all perfect; I've heard a few grumbles about the cleanliness, like tables not being as pristine as they'd like, and without those handy deals, things can get a bit steep, so it's worth planning around that. Overall, it's a solid choice for pub goers looking for a good time in Paisley, as long as you go in with realistic expectations and maybe check for any specials first – it's got that charm that keeps you coming back for more.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The live music scene is absolutely buzzing – it's a fantastic spot if you're into catching local gigs and events, making every visit feel lively and engaging.
  • The food menu is a real winner; their New York Dive Bar inspired dishes are delicious and packed with unique flavours, plus it's all at an affordable price that won't break the bank.
  • Drinks are spot on with quality pints starting from just £3, and their own Hex lager is a lovely nod to local history, brewed to perfection and served in a proper stein.
  • The staff are genuinely welcoming and attentive, always up for a chat, which really adds to that cosy, community feel you'd expect from a good pub.
Cons
  • It's not always as spotless as it could be; a few folks have mentioned tables needing a wipe, which might put you off if you're particular about cleanliness.
  • Prices can sneak up on you without the lunch deals or specials, so it might feel a tad pricey for a casual outing if you're not watching the budget.

Amazing 👏🏻 Absolutely so happy we chose to come here for lunch. One of the best menus I have seen in a long time! Even my 3 year old devoured his mac & cheese. Honestly can't wait to come back again and keep trying something different.

Popped in for a quick drink before table reservation for dinner elsewhere. Atmosphere and music superb, service behind the bar attentive and chatty! Still my favourite pub in Paisley!

The food was good (I had the 'Reuben sandwich - pastrami, gherkins, sauerkraut & cheese) but the place wasn't as clean as it might have been. Table needed a wipe, and didn't get one. The guy on the bar was attentive and pointed out the lunch deals, without which this place is pretty pricy - especially for Paisley. The sandwich was smaller than I expected, so I was glad I had the deal with the chips. The chips were great! Crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside, cut slim with the skins left on. A guy round the corner was swearing his head off the entire time I was eating. I know that's not exactly within the staff's control, but it didn't make for a nice ambience. The music was quite good, even if not loud enough to drown out that guy!

What a surprise this place turned out to be. During a trip up north, I was turn whether to take a trip into Glasgow or eat at the airport, well there's a third way! The bar is light and welcoming, very comfy, good for groups too with big tables. The staff were very friendly and helpful. All kicks off with a desperados on tap, that is a rare treat alone, so much better than out of a bottle. The burger was amazing, all topped with just what I wanted, a build it yourself type menu. I also had the chilli cheese fries wow I could have just had these to be honest. They were without doubt the best chilli fries I've have so far! Huge recommendation for this place, would advise it is an essential visit if near by.
