About This Pub
Ah, The Last Post – it's one of those classic Wetherspoon spots that just feels like a reliable old friend, tucked away in Paisley with its roots in a former post office. I have to say, the building itself is a real highlight; it's got this elegant vibe with chandeliers and comfy seating that makes you feel like you're stepping back in time, and it's perfect for a relaxed chat over a pint. The food's just what you'd expect from Spoons – nothing fancy, but it's affordable, comes in hearty portions, and hits the spot, especially on deals like steak night. Service tends to be spot on, with staff being helpful and quick, which is always a bonus when you're settling in for the evening. On the flip side, though, it's not without its little niggles; you might occasionally get a dish that's not quite up to temperature, and it can get heaving on busier days, so grabbing a table isn't always straightforward. Overall, it's a solid choice if you're after good value and a bit of history with your drink – I'd pop in again without a second thought, as long as you're up for that typical pub charm with a few quirks thrown in.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The historic building is absolutely stunning, with beautiful chandeliers and Scottish frames that give it a real character and charm.
-
It's a fantastic spot for people-watching, right next to the train station, and the atmosphere can be lively or relaxed depending on the day.
-
The food and drinks are great value for money, with typical Wetherspoon grub that's tasty and comes in generous portions.
-
Service is generally prompt and courteous, making for a pleasant visit whether you're popping in for a pint or a meal.
Cons
-
There might be the odd slip-up with food, like a cold mushroom on your plate, which can put a slight dampener on things.
-
It can get quite busy at times, especially on weekends, so you might have to navigate through the crowds to find a seat.

Beautiful building. As the name suggests, it used to be an old post office. The building next to it was an old prison as well. Really historic area. The food is good, it’s wetherspoons food of course. The atmosphere is lovely however.
This was a superb pub for drinking, situated in a grand two floor building! The chandeliers are beautiful and Scottish frames on the wall are an entertaining addition, appreciated the separate rows of seating too. This seating is comfortable and counter is stylishly presented, I had a pint of Kopparberg at a clean table!
A very good place to people watch as the train station is literally located next door. Service was prompt, and I could hear the manager being courteous to the many customers. Typical spoons value.
I came here twice over a span of a week, both Saturdays.
The first one was a lot less busy with older couples and friends, it was great!
The second one was bubbling with youth and people talking and drinking, it was great too!
The food is not expensive, it is really good, the quantity is quite big and the beers are tasty and also not expensive!
Highly recommend!
Went in tonight for something to eat and a few beers. Had the steak seeing it is Tuesday steak night. Everything on plate was good except cold mushroom. Ordered steak medium rare and that’s how it came. Had the egg and black pudding as extras which were fine. Overall not too bad for pub grub. Beer the usually good selection at cheap prices which is great.
Coffee out of machine is Luke warm. Although taste is good they need to turn up heat on machine !!!!!!
No stirrers to stir coffee had to use a straw!
Staff good as usual.
Fire alarm or something went off but no one came to tell customers what it was!!!!!!!
Overall place is drab and dark. Needs a refit to be honest.
Will go back for cheap booze but certainly not the atmosphere of which there is none!!!it’s a totally boring pub.
