About This Pub
Ah, The Alexandra in Wimbledon – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local favourite, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the place has this inviting atmosphere that's just right for sinking into a comfy spot with your mates after a long day or even post-tennis at the grounds. The staff are the real stars here; they're attentive and make you feel like a regular from the get-go, which always adds to the fun. Drinks-wise, they've nailed it with a solid lineup that keeps things interesting, whether you're after a classic pint or something a bit more refined. Now, on the food front, it's a mixed bag – some folks rave about the hearty portions and flavoursome dishes like the pies, but others have mentioned it's pricey and not always up to scratch, with complaints about bland tastes and small servings that don't quite justify the cost. Overall, I'd say it's a top pick for drinks and good times, but if you're planning a big meal, you might want to keep expectations in check and perhaps stick to the shares or go elsewhere for something more reliable. It's all about balance, isn't it?
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely spot on – lively but not overwhelming, making it a brilliant spot for a catch-up with friends.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, like Nicole and Will who really go the extra mile to make you feel right at home.
-
They've got a cracking selection of drinks, from a great range of beers on tap to wines and spirits that cater to all tastes.
-
Some of the food hits the mark, with generous portions and tasty options like pies and salt and pepper squid that leave you satisfied.
-
There's plenty of space both indoors and outdoors, perfect for enjoying a drink or a meal in a relaxed setting.
Cons
-
The food can be a bit hit and miss – some dishes, like the steak, are on the small side and a tad tasteless for the price.
-
It's not the cheapest option out there, with meals feeling overpriced when they don't quite live up to expectations, such as that underwhelming burger.
-
A few experiences suggest the food quality isn't consistent, which might leave you disappointed if you're heading there for a proper meal.

A Proper Gem in Wimbledon!
Hands down one of the best pubs in Wimbledon. Great atmosphere, solid selection of drinks, and a warm, welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home.
What really made our visit special was the incredible service from Nicole behind the bar. She was friendly, attentive, and went out of her way to make sure we had a great time. You can tell she loves what she does — her smile is infectious!
Really nice first visit, great venue. Chap called Will behind the bar was extremely welcoming and definitely made us want to return. Nice wine selection, excellent indoor and outdoor spaces. Look forward to going back for a meal, (only had chips).
Nice pub. The atmosphere was lively but not too loud, perfect for hanging out with friends. We grabbed a mix of food and a couple of share plates and everything came out hot and tasty. Portion sizes were generous too. They’ve got a solid drinks menu with a good range of beers on tap, plus a few nice cocktail options. Service was friendly and pretty quick, even though the place was getting busy. There’s a nice mix of indoor and outdoor seating, good if you want to enjoy a drink outside. Would definitely come back for another round!
Extremely mediocre food that was quite expensive. My husband got the steak for £25 and it was the smallest one I’ve ever seen. He said the mushroom (!) was the best part of it, as everything else was tasteless, including the gravy. I got the burger, which cost £18, and it was just about edible - very dry, patty was overcooked, barely any cheese or sauce in it… I could’ve made a much better one at home for a fraction of the price.
The menu mentioned non-alcoholic drinks and beers and “to ask the staff about their wide range”. The waitress knew nothing about it, and told me they only had one non-alcoholic beer, which according to the menu that I saw after ordering is not true.
We ate at their rooftop garden (very limited food menu up there), which was a nice spot on a sunny day, and the only positive thing about the experience.
I like to go here after a day at Wimbledon Tennis Grand Slam. Always great atmosphere and the food is amazing. Had the pie and it was so good. Salt and pepper squid was nice too. There is a great selection of beers wine and spirits. The crowd is very relaxed and there is always a chat to start somewhere. Looking forward to my next visit
