About This Pub
Ah, Teller Bar, what a lovely find in the middle of Hitchin! I've got to say, it's one of those places that really hits the mark for a good night out without any fuss. The beer selection is brilliant – think the best of craft brews from indie spots and classic European ones, all served in a modern, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The staff are absolute gems; they're so chatty and know their stuff, which makes choosing a drink a real pleasure, whether you're into beers, wines, or even their homemade cocktails. And don't forget the events – a movie night or a tasting session sounds like a fun way to spice things up, especially with that Wednesday deal on cask ale. It's dog-friendly too, which is always a plus if you're out with your furry mate. On the flip side, though, I have to be honest – one person wasn't too keen on a cocktail they tried, saying it didn't live up to the price tag and lacked a bit of flair, so maybe stick to the beers if you're unsure. Food-wise, it's just snacks for now, so you might want to grab a bite before you go. Overall, it's a solid spot with heaps of potential, and with such high ratings, I'd definitely pop in for a pint and see what all the fuss is about – you might just end up staying longer than planned!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The selection of craft beers and European brews is absolutely spot on – with 15 lines on draught, a weekly cask special, and even guest beers from great UK breweries, it's a beer lover's paradise.
-
The atmosphere is so cosy and relaxed, making it a perfect spot for a laid-back evening with friends or even bringing your dog along, as it's wonderfully dog-friendly.
-
Staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable; they'll recommend a drink that suits your taste, whether it's a craft beer, a fine wine, or one of their in-house ready-to-drink cocktails.
-
They host some brilliant events like movie nights, tasting evenings, and masterclasses, plus cask ale at just £3 a pint on Wednesdays – what a treat!
-
It's in the heart of Hitchin, easy to find, and the overall vibe is modern and welcoming, with bar snacks to keep things going.
Cons
-
One downside is that cocktails can be a bit hit or miss; someone mentioned a £10 seasonal sour that fell short on expectations, with no ice or garnish, which is a shame for the price.
-
Food options are pretty limited to just bar snacks and the occasional food truck, so if you're after a proper meal, you might need to head elsewhere.
-
They're closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, which means it's not always available for a mid-week wind-down, and the operating hours start a bit late in the day.
-
With only 32 reviews so far, it's still building its reputation, and while the ratings are high, that one negative experience shows there's room for improvement in consistency.

Movie Night at Teller Bar
I had the pleasure of attending Teller Bar’s first-ever movie night on Thursday, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The event was impressively well-organized, creating a relaxed and inviting atmosphere perfect for enjoying a film with good company.
Teller Bar’s craft beer selection was excellent, offering a great variety to suit all tastes, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Their enthusiasm added to the overall welcoming vibe of the evening. Pairing a well-curated movie with quality drinks and great people made for a memorable night.
If this was their first attempt at a movie night, I can’t wait to see what they do next. I’ll definitely be back for the next one!
Popped in here for a drink today and ended up staying for a few as it was such a great find. Really cosy bar with lovely decor and really friendly staff. My husband was impressed with the variety of craft beer and I had a lovely glass of wine as recommended by the bar man. Will definitely visit again and it’s so nice to have somewhere new to go for a nice drink and a nice atmosphere.
Can’t fault the look and feel of the place. So cozy and really cool idea. I was so disappointed with my cocktail… £10 for a seasonal sour. I know times are tough but spending that on what you think will be a winter treat 😂 and this is what I got. Three sips, no ice or garnish and I just was expecting so much more. Sorry guys!
Another great bar in Hitchin. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. What i really like is exceptionally great service with smile and friendly way. Atmosphere is cool and relaxed. Nice selection of drinks in cask & keg. They are serving their own brewery drinks as well as guest beers from great UK breweries. Prices are very much reasonable and pocket friendly.
Brand new tap bar in central Hitchin serving a good selection of indie beer and other miscellaneous beverages! 🍻
I tried several beers from Pretty Decent Beer Co., their guest beer of the week, as well as the local Six Hills NEPA, and a Belgian cherry 🍒. Lovely selection. Easy to drink and tasty. Ask to try something out first if you are not sure, or inquire a recommendation from the staff. Paid ~£3 for a half pint so pricing is pretty reasonable.
Beverage selection changes weekly, so look out for their social media posts to know what's on each week 🥂. Aside from beers, there is a limited selection of cocktails and wine. Soft drinks and snacks like crisps and nuts are also available. No kitchen food.
No outdoor seatings but the sun does hit the street-facing window area 🌞.
The place is squeaky clean ✨, being so very new, from the drinking area to the restrooms. The industrial decor reminds me of those archway micropubs in Bermondsey, shiny and efficient. Come in while things are still fresh!
Very friendly staff who will gladly aid you in the quest to quench your thirst. I would describe the atmosphere as chilled, family friendly, unrowdy. Light music so you can have conversations.
They mostly open Thu - Sat for now while setting things up but will have a more frequent opening schedule in the upcoming months.
