About This Pub
Ah, let me tell you about the Tartan Rose – it's one of those hidden gems in Paisley that really grows on you. I love how the staff go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome; it's like chatting with old mates right from the off. The locals add to that charm, turning what could be a quiet pint into a proper laugh-filled evening you'd want to revisit. Plus, with a decent lineup of beers and fun extras like the pool table and sports on the telly, it's spot-on for a relaxed hangout, especially if you're keen on catching a game or showing off your pool skills on a Sunday. On the downside, it's tucked away in a more subdued part of town, which might not appeal if you're after something more central and energetic. It does cater mostly to an older crowd, so it has that traditional feel, but that means it could come across as a bit dated for some. And honestly, while the drinks are generally alright, I've heard a few grumbles about them not being as fresh as they could be. All in all, it's a solid choice for a no-fuss night out – just go in with the right expectations, and you'll likely have a great time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant and make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
The locals are so welcoming; they turn a simple evening into a memorable night out that you'll want to repeat.
-
They've got a great selection of beers, like Guinness and local brews, which go down a treat.
-
It's got a nostalgic, traditional Scottish vibe with a pool table and sports TVs, perfect for a relaxed game or match-watching session.
-
The atmosphere is lively on Sundays, especially for watching top-notch pool players – it's a real highlight if you're into that.
Cons
-
It's located in a quieter part of Paisley, which can feel a bit isolated and not as vibrant as the town centre spots.
-
It mainly draws in an older crowd, so if you're after a younger, buzzing scene, it might not quite hit the mark.
-
Some of the drinks, like Guinness, aren't always at their freshest, which is a shame for a traditional pub.
-
It lacks those classic antique features you'd expect in an old-school pub, making it feel a tad plain in places.

The Tartan Rose is a well-kept secret. Not a town centre pub, it is located in the West End of Paisley.
The staff are brilliant, and the locals make an ordinary night out into an amazing night out.
If you only visit once, you will want to return, again and again.
Traditional Scots bar in desolate west end. Local for older crowd, pool table and sports tvs. Nostalgic. Handy for St Mirren
Good solid West end pub . Best pool players on a Sunday afternoon. Great to watch . See big Jamie and the two Davies. Some incredible pool.
The Tartan Rose is a traditional old man's pub, but without wooden antique features. Pints of Guinness were OK but not the freshest, though multiple people drinking it. Drinks on tap included Guinness, Tennent's, Belhaven 70 shilling, Belhaven, Belhaven Light. Winner of multiple awards, mainly from All Bar None. Efficient service.
