About This Pub

Ah, the Talbot Inn – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Milton Keynes, where you can pop in for a relaxed pint or a bite to eat without any fuss. I love how welcoming it is; the staff are usually spot on, making you feel right at home, and the food hits the mark more often than not, with delicious roasts and fresh salads that leave you satisfied without breaking the bank. The beer garden and courtyard are brilliant for soaking up the sun or enjoying a quiet moment, and it's ace that they welcome dogs, so it's perfect for a casual outing. On the flip side, it can get a tad rowdy in spots, which might not suit everyone, especially if you're hoping for a cosy chat, and there have been times when the food hasn't quite lived up to expectations, like that soupy lasagne that put a dampener on things for some. Still, overall, it's a solid choice for a good night out, with plenty of positives that make it worth a visit – just keep an eye on what you're ordering and maybe aim for a quieter table if that's your thing.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere at the Talbot Inn is so friendly and welcoming, making it a lovely spot to catch up with mates over a drink.
  • They serve up some cracking pub grub that's tasty and offers great value for money, with options like hearty roasts and fresh salads that really hit the spot.
  • The beer garden and courtyard are absolute gems, especially on a sunny day, providing a relaxing outdoor space to unwind.
  • It's wonderfully dog-friendly, which is a real plus if you're popping in with your four-legged companion.
  • Service is generally efficient and cheerful, adding to that homely feel you'd expect from a good local pub.
Cons
  • It can get a bit noisy in certain areas, which might spoil things if you're after a peaceful evening.
  • Food quality isn't always consistent; for instance, some dishes like the lasagne have fallen short, leaving a few folks disappointed.
  • The staff aren't always as flexible as you'd hope, such as when it comes to sorting out seating for a quieter table.

The Talbot Inn is a friendly and welcoming pub with wide selection of drinks and food at good value pricing. I have always had good service and great food. Good to have a salad worth paying for, nice size and filling. Nice large garden at the rear and a courtyard garden at the front. Kudos to the team for always being welcoming and accommodating us always. Thanks Cath, Jane and Julie 😀

Came here for a roast dinner and it was so delicious! Don’t normally like roast potatoes but these ones were so tasty. Would definitely recommend and would come here again. Service was quick and friendly

Reserved a table for two and upon arrival I was greeted with ‘follow me mate’. We were sat down in a rather noisy and rowdy area of the pub when we would have preferred a quieter area in order to enjoy our date night. I politely asked a member of staff if we could be moved somewhere else, however no other tables were available. We promptly ordered our food and drinks. It took 45 minutes for a burger and chips & halloumi and chips to be served, which caused us to not only ask a member of staff where our food was, but also to order a second round of drinks. They charged £7.10 for two pints of coke and £12.49 for halloumi (two small finger strips of halloumi) and chips, we both felt this was extortionately priced and left feeling ripped off! Burger and chips were nice, but not worth a revisit. We were never asked if our food was nice, so didn’t have the opportunity to complain. We were disappointed by the small portions of food, noisy seating area, long wait times for basic food and high prices.

Don’t recommend the lasagne, as you can see it was soupy. Husband enjoyed the posh fish & chips though. Peroni was alright as well

Great Pub. We initially decided to go because they are dog friendly and that was it. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed the staff are all lovely. Car parking is great, all areas of the inn are clean, bright and comfortable. We went here for New Years Eve and had a great night. The teamwork is fantastic and organised. We didn’t expect much of the food for New Year’s Eve with it just being burgers, scampi chips etc but the burgers were delicious, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. Despite not being our nearest pub it is now our new local and well worth the 30 minute walk. The staff and atmosphere make this place. Well done for putting on a great night.
