Star Inn in Ashton

So, I was having a look at the Star Inn, tucked away on Old Street in Ashton-under-Lyne, and it's got that classic pub feel that's hard to beat if you're after a straightforward night out. The drinks are an absolute bargain – pints and doubles for just £2.50 – which means you can kick back and enjoy without worrying about the tab adding up too quickly. I reckon the atmosphere really shines on Thursdays with the karaoke; it's all about good vibes, friendly chats, and a mix of folks just out for a laugh, making it feel like a proper community spot. Plus, they've got this fun edge with things like Halloween events, which could make for a memorable evening. On the downside, though, there've been some worrying stories about dodgy goings-on in the garden, like drug use that the staff apparently know about but aren't sorting out, and that puts a bit of a shadow over the place.
