About This Pub

Ah, the Seven Kings – it's one of those pubs in Dunfermline that just feels like a solid go-to for a laid-back evening out. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are absolute gems; they're quick to help, whether you're sorting out a table for the family or dealing with dietary needs like milk allergies. The food really shines too – imagine tucking into a cracking Sunday roast with extra Yorkshire puds, or some tasty chicken wings that hit the spot just right. It's got that welcoming vibe for families and even your furry mates, with a beer garden and all the sports action on Sky or TNT to keep things lively. But let's be honest, it's not without its quirks; the place can come across as a bit too polished and commercial, missing that warm, old-school pub authenticity some of us crave. And if you're eyeing up the steak pie, you might find it's gone by the time you get there, which is a bit of a bummer on a packed night. Overall, though, it's a dependable choice for a good meal and a chat with mates – I'd say give it a try if you're in the area, especially for the sports or a family dinner, but keep expectations realistic for that homely feel.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • The food is a real highlight – think delicious Sunday roasts, perfectly cooked chicken wings, and options for families with allergies, all done to a tee.
  • It's super dog-friendly and family-oriented, with plenty of space for kids and pets to enjoy the vibe.
  • They've got a great setup for watching live sports, like the Women's Euros or rugby tours, with a beer garden and comfy spots to settle in.
  • The pub's got loads of handy facilities, including WiFi and disabled access, plus it's open most of the day for a relaxed catch-up.
Cons
  • The atmosphere can feel a bit commercial and lacking that cosy, traditional pub charm, which might disappoint if you're after something more authentic.
  • Some popular dishes, like the steak pie, can sell out quickly, leading to a few letdowns on busy days.
  • While the food's generally spot on, it's not always the most adventurous menu, so if you're craving something unique, you might find it a tad straightforward.

My experience in Seven Kings was salacious overall. The service was friendly and exemplary. The ambiance was good, although commercial and somewhat lacking in a true authentic pub feel. Food was delicious but the steak pie was sold out. Which, while unavoidable, was disappointing. Guinness was creamy and delicious.

We have used the seven kings for family meals for a while as nice and local. The last 2 Sundays I have discovered they do a Sunday roast and all I can say is wow. I had the turkey and beef with extra Yorkshire pudding and it has been amazing. My husband says I could eat a roast 7 days a week so to find a good one is hard to find. The meat cooked perfectly and moist the Yorkshire puddings hearty and not cheap tasting the cauliflower cheese like I make at home and piping hot crispy potatoes with a selection of fresh veg and and lots of gravy and extra at side(a must in my opinion). Highly recommend anyone to go in. Staff super friendly and can't do enough to help. Bring on next Sunday.

Very good experience. Kids have milk allergies, one had steak the other had beef tacos, staff really nice and helpful. We had steak pie which was top! Also it was milk free. The kids had vegan cheesecake and ice-cream and vegan lava cookie and ice-cream. Good atmosphere, dog friendly.
