About This Pub

Ah, let me share my thoughts on the Scottish Embassy – it's this charming little pub tucked away in Aberdeen that really hits the mark for a good night out. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are generally top-notch; they're not just serving drinks, they're looking out for everyone, like that heartwarming story of them sitting with someone who'd taken a tumble. The beer is always reliable and won't set you back too much, which is a real plus when you're catching up with mates. Plus, with live music and a buzzing atmosphere full of locals, it's easy to see why it's a favourite for a bit of fun and laughter. On the downside, though, there was that unfortunate run-in where things got a bit heated over an ID mix-up – it's a reminder that policies can sometimes be enforced a touch firmly, which might put a damper on things if you're not prepared. All in all, with such a strong rating, I'd say it's well worth popping in for a pint, just make sure you've got everything sorted for a smooth visit. It's got that homely feel that makes you want to come back, balancing out the occasional slip-up with plenty of good times.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and go the extra mile – like when they cared for someone who had a fall, showing real warmth and kindness.
  • You've got cracking beer that's always spot on, and it's reasonably priced, making it a great spot for a casual pint without breaking the bank.
  • The atmosphere is spot on, with live music and a good buzz from locals and offshore folk, perfect for a lively chat and some proper craic.
  • It's generally quiet and welcoming, ideal for a relaxed afternoon or evening out, with plenty of positive vibes all around.
Cons
  • There was that one off-putting experience where the staff were a bit too sharp about ID checks, which left a sour taste for at least one visitor.
  • It can get busy with the crowd, which might make it feel a tad overwhelming if you're after a more peaceful spot.

A lady fell off her chair and the lady behind the bar sat on the floor with her caring for her and making sure she was alright for ages. Was massively impressed by their care for their guest, what lovely people. I think this is a kind bar with warm lovely people.

Horrible experience, went into this pub in the afternoon and mistakenly had no ID on my person. I was happy to go and get the ID but before I even mentioned this, she was extremely rude and was raising her voice telling us to leave 🤢Never experienced such horrible customer service. Said it was illegal to be in the pub without ID even though it was 4-5pm. She could have easily said that she couldn’t serve us but was instead immediately abrupt, arrogant and hostile. Will not be returning, not that the pub would care 🤷🏽‍♀️
