About This Pub

Oh, Aitchie's Ale House is just the sort of place you'd want to duck into after a long day; it's got that classic pub charm with a clean, welcoming feel where you can settle in for a good natter and a refreshing pint. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are absolute stars – knowledgeable about their drinks and always up for a chat, which really makes the experience. It's brilliant for a solo visit too, feeling safe and inclusive, and they've got some lovely traditional snacks on offer that add a bit of heart to the place. On the flip side, not every drink is a winner for all tastes, as one review mentioned a gin that didn't quite live up to expectations, and it can get bustling, so you might not always snag that peaceful spot. All in all, with its solid 4.5 rating, it's a reliable choice for us pub enthusiasts looking for a genuine, no-fuss good time in Aberdeen.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is incredibly inviting and friendly, making it a top spot for a relaxed chat over a pint with mates.
  • They've got a great selection of ales, spirits, and bottles, served by knowledgeable staff who know their stuff.
  • It's a welcoming place for everyone, including those popping in alone, with a safe and inclusive vibe that's hard to beat.
  • Conveniently located near the train station, perfect for a quick stop before heading off.
  • You can grab some tasty traditional snacks like stovies with beetroot and oatcakes, adding a nice touch to your visit.
Cons
  • Some drinks might not hit the mark for everyone, like that gin and lemonade that one person found underwhelming.
  • With its popularity, it can get quite busy at times, which might make it a bit tricky to find a quiet corner.
  • No website means it's harder to check out the latest info or menu before you go, which is a small shame.

Old style very friendly pub with things like stovies with beetroot and oatcakes to snack on. Safe for women who fancy a quiet drink by themselves, with friendly folks either coming home from offshore or going for a few in town.

Nice looking traditional pub had nice atmosphere. Me and my friend came all the way to see a band in another venue so decided to pop in on way. I ordered a gin & lemonade ( flora) which was on special so thought I would try it. It wasn't to my taste but still drank it ( as paid for it). I went back up to bar to order another drink ( something different) as didn't enjoy what I ordered ( wasn't barmans fault for my choice) and I was refused!!!!!! I was actually quite taken back as I had been sat on a bus for nearly 2 hours to get to Aberdeen and had only went in one bar brewdog and had a small glass of wine, at first I thought he was joking?????? But no he was actually serious!!!!!! I review lots of places as I work in hospitality. I would have given 5* but I was made to feel so embarrassed in front of everyone in the pub. There was a works night out who were even taken back by my refusal. I get my friend was very load but she suffers from bi-polar disorder and I am blind in one eye so maybe he looked at my eye and decided not to serve me as it half closes sometimes. But there was no other reason for me not to get served in there. Not given stars for food as had none. I never got the gentlemans name which I should have but he was in his 30's with dark brown short hair and very much had an attitude. Wouldn't advise this pub if coming from another town. Felt very embarrassed.

Great little pub for a quiet pint and a chat with the locals. Good ales and friendly and helpful staff. Right opposite the train station so pop in if you've got a wait before your train leaves.
