About This Pub
You know, when you step into the Scarborough Arms, it's got that classic pub charm that just makes you want to settle in for the evening. The food really steals the show – we're talking big, flavoursome portions of proper pub fare that's fresh and satisfying, like a pulled pork burger packed with meat or a steak pie that melts in your mouth. The staff are an absolute delight, always on hand to help and making sure groups are looked after without any fuss. It's got a warm, inviting atmosphere too, with lighting that's just right for a cosy chat or a romantic dinner. On the downside, though, I've heard a few folks mention that sides like chips can arrive cold, and some dishes have a bit of grease that might not sit well. Plus, the condiments are nothing fancy, and they don't always pop over to check if you're enjoying your meal or fancy a pud. All in all, it's a solid spot for a good night out – the positives far outweigh the niggles, but it's good to go in with eyes open so you can make the most of it.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot-on, with generous portions that make you feel like you've got a proper meal – think tasty home-cooked grub like steak and ale pie or a hearty chicken curry.
-
Service is brilliant; the staff are friendly and really accommodating, especially for larger groups, making sure everything runs smoothly.
-
It's got a lovely atmosphere, with nice lighting that creates a cosy, romantic vibe, perfect for a relaxed evening out.
-
Great value for money – the fresh ingredients and quality dishes make it well worth the price, leaving you satisfied without breaking the bank.
Cons
-
Some sides, like chips and onion rings, can turn up a bit cold, which is a shame when the rest of the meal is so good.
-
A few dishes might have greasy elements, such as the fish batter, that could put a slight dampener on things.
-
The condiments are a bit basic, just cheap sachets rather than something more substantial, which feels a tad underwhelming.
-
They don't always check in to see if your food's alright or offer desserts, so you might miss out on that extra touch.

What a great find the food was excellent.Portions are very large you need to be hungry to eat here. Service was excellent nothing too much trouble. There was thirteen of us staff very accommodating and helpful. All of our meals came out at once, thank you when we come back to Scarborough we would definitely come again thank you for a great night
The food was good quality. The chips and onion rings were cold, and the fish was gorgeous but batter greasy. the staff was great. I will definitely go back to try the mixed grill it a shame no one asked if food was OK, and do you want a pudding like they did all other tables, maybe next time we go, they would have bin 5 star's if hot food
Second time of visiting and food was as lovely as the first. Hot and tasty home cooked food. Proper pub grub.
Only slightly negative comment is that condiments are not the best, cheap sachets, but that’s is being very picky.
Lovely pub we stumbled across. I had chicken curry and partner had pulled pork burger, both were delicious and plenty of meat for sure. All fresh tasty ingredients definitely worth the price. The pub has lovely ambience with its lighting etc and perfect for a romantic meal. The only slight grumble we had was we had 2 large dogs either side of us while we were eating and we weren’t informed whether it was table service or not, we had to go ask.
Staff seemed really nice and checked our food was okay. We would 100% return to this pub over and over again and we wish it was closer to where we lived.
Absolutely fantastic food. Great service. Friendly staff. Value for your money. I would definitely recommend the steak and ale pie with homemade chips. The pie crust stayed firm, and the steak just melted in your mouth.
