About This Pub
Ah, Saddlers Arms – what a fun spot it is, tucked away on Fishley Lane, blending the warm spices of Bangladesh with the comforting tastes of Italy in a proper pub vibe. I've got to say, the food really steals the show; whether it's a succulent curry or a classic pizza, it's all prepared with fresh ingredients and a real passion that had me and my mates raving about it. The staff are an absolute delight too, always chatting away and making sure everything's just right, like when they threw in a complimentary dish to fix a small mix-up – that's the kind of service that keeps you coming back. Plus, with that dog-friendly beer garden and great deals on things like afternoon tea, it's perfect for a relaxed get-together. On the flip side, though, it's a shame they sometimes run short on drinks like cider, which can leave you scrambling for alternatives, and there have been a few grumbles about veg not being cooked through on the roasts. It can also feel a bit empty now and then, so if you're after a buzzing night out, it might not hit the mark every time. All in all, it's a solid choice for a meal with friends – the highs definitely outweigh the lows, and I'd recommend giving it a go for that unique culinary twist in a welcoming setting.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – a brilliant fusion of Bangladeshi spices and Italian classics, with dishes like curries and pizzas that leave you wanting more.
-
The staff are so welcoming and attentive; they really go the extra mile to make you feel at home, whether it's delivering food or sorting out any little issues.
-
It's a dog-friendly spot with a cracking beer garden, ideal for a chilled afternoon or evening with friends and the family pooch.
-
Value for money is top-notch, especially with deals like the afternoon tea that includes bottomless cocktails – a real bargain at £25.
Cons
-
They can run out of certain drinks, like cider, which is a bit of a letdown if you're after something specific at the bar.
-
Some food items might not be quite right, such as undercooked veg with the roasts, which could put off those who prefer everything perfectly done.
-
It can feel a tad quiet at times, with not much of a buzz if you're hoping for a lively pub atmosphere – we were the only ones in on one visit.

Lovely food highly recommended. Great service from Moh. our first visit but won’t be our last
Edited: 27.4.25 ordered again had mixed grill, nan, chapati and seekh kebab all were nice as usual. Fantastic customer service by Mohammed Munir who delivered our food and included a complimentary chicken tikka masala to make up for it not being as expected last time. This time the tikka masala curry was more creamy and better made and I would order it again as long as its made this way everytime. Thanks Saddlers for the nice touch.
Had the mixed grill, seekh kebab, chicken pakoras, spicy wings, king prawn puri, chicken madras curry, paneer tikka masala curry, naan, chapati and lamb biriyani, green salad and mint yogurt, chicken omlette and chips. The starters and mixed grill were all very nice i would have them again, the curry's were average the tikka masala was not creamy or rich enough and the madras was spicy but not that flavourful both curry were water based it seemed not much oil at all. The salad was fresh, the mint sauce is nice, the lamb biriyani was nice but again needed a bit more depth of flavour. The naan and chapati are as usual. The chicken omlette and chips was nice. Would order again and stick to starters and mixed grill maybe an omlette.
2nd time here. Firstly THE BAR...NO cider, draught or bottles (apparently they had a busy weekend). As former pub owners we find this unacceptable. We NEVER ran out of ANY drinks. Cider has a very long shelf life so why don't they keep a good stock? Barmaid said they were on the last bottle of blackcurrant cordial as well! It's not overly clean either. Both visits we saw rubbish under the benches and lots of dust. We'll not be returning.
Re the restaurant, stale poppadoms and tough chicken. When asked how our meals were I told them about the chicken. This was quickly remedied. The amount of chicken in each meal wasn't good. I reckon they'd get at least 5 meals out of one chicken breast. Saying that we had the meal deal, 5 courses for £13.95, so I suppose that explains it. Staff were lovely and friendly.
We had a wonderful meal this week and loved it that much that we are going again tonight. The service was just fantastic and they couldn't do enough for you. The food was tasty and hot when it arrived and there was plenty of it. It's the tastiest curry my husband and I have had for a long time
What am excellent find!
Me and my husband went for a meal tonight, we was not disappointed! The food was honestly amazing! I've never had chicken so soft and succulent, every staff member including the bar staff from next door were super friendly and couldn't do any more for us if they tried! 10/10 will be telling all our friends and family! Can't wait for our next visit!
