About This Pub

Ah, the Kings Head – it's one of those pubs that really captures the heart of a community, you know? From what I've gathered from the chats online, it's got this warm, inviting vibe where you can pop in for a game of darts or just unwind with a drink, and plenty of people swear by it as their go-to spot. The ratings are generally positive, sitting at a solid 4.1, with some lovely reviews highlighting how it's a top-notch place for a bit of banter and relaxation. But, and I hate to say it, it's not all rosy – there are tales of dodgy behaviour that could make anyone think twice, especially if you're out with mates and want to feel secure. Plus, the building itself sounds like it's crying out for some TLC, with maintenance woes that might spoil the experience. Overall, if you're up for a traditional British pub with its highs and lows, it's worth a visit, but maybe keep an eye out and go with a group to make the most of it.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is spot on for a casual pint and activities like darts – it's a proper local spot that feels welcoming for a good old game.
  • It's got that classic pub charm, with folks raving about it being one of the best around for a relaxing drink and a chat.
  • Many regulars love it as part of their daily routine, making it feel like a cosy neighbourhood haunt.
Cons
  • There have been some unsettling reports of verbal aggression, particularly towards women, which really puts a damper on things and makes it feel unsafe at times.
  • The place could do with a bit of a spruce-up – issues like a falling ceiling, broken toilets, and grubby windows make it look a bit neglected.
  • It seems to have reliability problems, with stories of it being often closed or not up to scratch, which is a shame for a traditional pub.

Went to see the game and a bunch of men started verbally aggressing me just because they can do it. As a woman you are not safe in this place. 4 years ago had similar experience thought that in the mean time something has changed but looks like not. Edit after reply: Should I share my receipt of paying for a drink? I believe you have serious issues my friend.

Ceiling falling down in bar, needs a total refurb in and out. Sadly a good pub ruined ( have been using this pub since 1982, when it was a pub with the Healeys) and often closed. Toilets broken or blocked, windows need a clean too. I wouldnt be surprised if this pub joins many others and permanantly closes. Picture is of smoking shelter at back of pub, bay windows roof falling in, and old fire place never cleaned. Its pot luck on beer if they have any, and soft drinks - diet coke or coke. They occasionaly open too. Irregular hours here you never know when there open or if they will stay open for the day or night?
