About This Pub
You know, I popped into Rain Bar the other week and it really lived up to the buzz – it's one of those places that just feels like a proper Manchester gem. The staff were brilliant, all smiles and eager to chat, which made the whole experience feel warm and inviting, just like chatting with mates over a pint. Their beers are spot on, especially those award-winning ones they've been serving for over 26 years, and the food menu is packed with comforting classics that hit the spot every time. That beer garden by the canal is a treat too; it's not just for summer with those heaters keeping things cosy in the cooler months. It's great for everything from a casual drink to sorting out a private do upstairs. On the flip side, it does get heaving at times, so you might end up queuing for a table, and the prices are a tad on the higher side for what you get. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after a reliable spot with good vibes and no fuss – I'd definitely recommend giving it a go next time you're in the area.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
They've got a fantastic selection of award-winning beers, like those JW Lees brews, along with great wines, spirits, and cocktails.
-
The food is spot on – hearty pub classics such as fish and chips and that legendary Brewery Tower Burger are absolute winners.
-
The canal-side beer garden is a real highlight, with heaters and a canopy making it enjoyable all year round.
-
It's in a prime spot in Manchester city centre, perfect for a quick stop before heading out or for hosting events in their upstairs space.
Cons
-
It can get pretty crowded, especially on weekends or during big events, which might make it a bit tricky to find a seat.
-
With moderate prices, it's not the cheapest spot for a pint or a meal, so you might want to budget accordingly.
-
The menu sticks to traditional pub fare, so if you're after something more adventurous or fancy, it might not quite hit the mark.

Lovely place to pop in and have a drink. The bar staff are amazing.
The staff was kind and helpful to visitors.
The food was really delicious. 👍 👍
The beer from their brewery was great. 👍
The outside seating area looks great for spring and summer.
Enjoy!
Absolutely amazing venue who saved our day! We had another venue booked which got flooded during the bad rain last week, we were only told a day before our event that it had been flooded and therefore cancelled. After a mad panic and ringing around various places, we got onto the phone with Alex (the manager) who was nothing but super friendly and helpful.
Not only managed to give us the space upstairs for our event but also managed to cover last minute catering and to our staff on. Just amazing all round. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful on the evening, nothing was too much and always checking in with me to check everything was ok and we were all enjoying the night.
Thank you ,thank you, thank you! I will definitely be booking here again for any celebration we have. Room was absolutely beautiful
I visited this establishment for the first time yesterday and was quite impressed. It is certainly one of the finest pubs in Manchester, particularly on a sunny day. The food was excellent, and I sampled the Manchester Lager for the first time, which was quite enjoyable. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the overall experience was very positive.
We had our wedding reception here back at the end of April 2023. Of course, we knew Rain Bar for years as a great bar with outdoor space by the canal which was why we thought of it. It was absolutely amazing, beautiful newly renovated function room, great service through the evening, great food - loads of guest compliments to the chef! There were individual yummy gluten-free platters for our celiac guests which they really appreciated. Special thanks to Alex with whom we met to plan everything and very special thanks to Sarah who set up our decorations thoughtfully and beautifully. About 60 odd guests, plenty of space to dance and chat with drinks. Seating for family members who needed it. The area is so lovely with the fairy lights and the canal, we took some of our wedding couple shots there. Could not recommend this venue enough for events!
