About This Pub

Ah, the Prince of Wales – it's one of those pubs that really grows on you once you step inside. From what I've gathered from the chats online, it's got this fantastic food scene going on; people rave about the authentic, freshly prepared meals that taste just like home cooking, with massive portions that make you wonder how they do it so affordably. Pair that with the friendly staff and that welcoming vibe from the owner and locals, and you've got yourself a spot that's ideal for making some good memories over a pint or a meal. The drinks are straightforward and reliable, like a cold Guinness or Stella, and there are extras like pool tables and the odd live event that keep things entertaining for a casual night out. It's family-friendly too, with a separate entrance, which is a nice touch if you're popping in with the kids. But, let's be honest, it's not all roses – some reviews mention dodgy food and service that can let the side down, and the place itself might feel a tad worn around the edges, like it needs a bit of TLC. Plus, if you're after a wider range of drinks or a quieter atmosphere, you might find it lacking, especially on those off-peak nights when the music doesn't quite hit the mark. Overall, though, I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in West Bromwich; it's got that genuine pub charm that makes up for the flaws, as long as you go in with realistic expectations and an open mind.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think delicious, home-like meals with big portions that leave you satisfied, especially their mix grills and authentic dishes that feel straight out of a Punjabi kitchen.
  • Friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere make it feel like a proper local spot, where the owner and regulars go out of their way to make you feel at home.
  • They've got a decent selection of drinks, like Guinness and Stella on tap, plus some whiskey and vodka options, perfect for a quick pint or a longer session.
  • It's got fun extras like two pool tables for a bit of practice and the occasional live entertainment, which adds to the lively vibe.
  • Being inexpensive means you can enjoy a good night out without breaking the bank, and there's even a side entrance for families to make it more accessible.
Cons
  • A few folks have had bad experiences with the food and service, like it being terrible or non-existent at times, which is a real shame when it's usually so good.
  • The place can come across as a bit rundown, which might put some off if you're after something more polished.
  • The drink selection isn't the most varied, so if you're looking for something beyond the basics, you might be disappointed.
  • Music volume can be an issue on quieter evenings, making it feel out of sync with the crowd, though it might be spot on when it's buzzing.

Was a nice locals pub but when I visited the volume of the music did not meet the needs of the amount of customers. I think this place has great potential when it is busy but I can only judge it on my visit during a quiet evening

I have just ordered a large mix grill. It is the best I have had in a very long time!!! I was surprised that even the portion was very big. Honestly you must try the food. Cooked just right and very taste. They also have a side entrance for families. 5 stars from me *****

Great little pub for a quick drink or even a session. Guinness and Stella on tap are good. Food is nice, spicy enough to enjoy with your pint. Decent selection of whiskey and vodka available. There are 2 pool tables which is ideal for me as I need the practice. Friendly staff. Occasionally has live entertainment on the weekends.

What a lovely place to visit. The food was so authentic, you could hear it being prepared in the kitchen and you never heard the ping of a microwave. It was utterly delicious and very well priced. The landlord of the "Prince of Wales" was a lovely fellow who made us feel really welcome, and the locals were so friendly. I wish this was my local.
