About This Pub
Ah, let me tell you about the Premier Inn in Newton Aycliffe – it's one of those places that just feels like a dependable mate when you're on the road. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff really shine; they're helpful and cheerful, often going above and beyond with things like complimentary treats for special days or making sure you can check in early if needed. The rooms are spot on for a good night's kip – clean, with comfy beds and those powerful showers that sort you out after a long drive. And don't overlook the breakfast; it's hearty and plentiful, with fresh options that leave you feeling sorted for the day ahead. Plus, the free parking and Wi-Fi add to the convenience, especially if you're popping over from nearby Durham for a bit of history. On the flip side, it's not all perfect – the setup feels a tad outdated, like it's stuck in a time warp, and those limited sockets can be a right nuisance if you're juggling phones and laptops. The on-site pub food is alright for a casual meal, but it's pretty basic, so you might not be raving about it afterwards. Overall, though, it's a solid choice if you're after a straightforward, welcoming spot without any fuss – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as the positives definitely outweigh the little niggles.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly and ready to go the extra mile, like sorting out early check-ins or adding special touches for occasions.
-
Rooms are clean, comfy, and well-equipped with powerful showers, tea and coffee facilities, and free Wi-Fi, making for a proper relaxing stay.
-
Breakfast is a real treat; it's fresh, tasty, and you can have as much as you like, which is perfect for starting the day right.
-
Free on-site parking is a bonus, especially if you're driving through the area, and it's easy to access.
-
It's conveniently located near the countryside with quick drives to places like historic Durham, great for a peaceful overnight stop.
Cons
-
The rooms aren't the most modern; they feel a bit dated, which might not wow you if you're after something fancy.
-
There are limited electrical sockets, so if you've got lots of devices, you might end up playing charger Tetris.
-
The restaurant and pub food on site is straightforward but nothing groundbreaking – it's reliable, though, for a quick bite.

We had an overnight stop-over enroute to a family occassion. I cannot think of anything we found out of place. Breakfast was lovely as much as you want of the menu. Some Premier Inns havexa help yourself but the food was fresh and tasty.
We stayed there overnight, and I can't fault the hotel. We were able to check in early, which was extremely helpful as we arrived fairly early.
The staff was very helpful and friendly, the hotel room was spacious with a comfortable bed and shower room, as well as a small TV.
There is plenty of parking and a great pub next door with delicious food.
The location, though, there was not much to do around there. So if you visit to sight see, there is nothing nearby.
Prices were reasonable and affordable for sure. You pay an extra £15 if you check in early.
I would say the hotel could do with a little decor update, as it looked a little run down.
Otherwise, for a cheap stay in, I highly recommend 👌
This hotel has a wonderful team. Nothing is too much trouble. We arrived on Valentines day to a beautifully presented room. Rose petals, chocolates, wine and a beer, all complimentary. A special mention to Sue, Angela and John but not forgetting the rest of this great team. Thank you for going the extra mile and we hope to return soon.
Comfortable, friendly, convient. Everything you want - parking easy, food available, helpful staff. Rooms clean, warm and comfy. Nice touches - in our family room Angela and team left colouring and snacks for the kids.
Clean rooms and friendly service. Quiet nights. Good parking. Pub food on site. Not the most modern but everything works and beds are comfy. The only one slight issue is there are limited sockets and two are also used for kettle and hairdryer. The TV is plugged into a third. With the amount of technology that most people need to charge nowadays I'd advise bringing an adapter of some kind. One with 2 or 3 USB points would be useful.
