About This Pub

Oh, mate, if you're after a proper pub experience in Tynemouth, Platform 2 is one I'd happily recommend for a pint or two. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this brilliant selection of beers and ciders that keeps everyone coming back – think cask ales, keg options, and even some gins to mix things up. The staff sound like absolute stars, always up for a chat and making sure you're looked after, which really makes the place feel welcoming. It's got that lovely old-school charm with a real fire and a jukebox that adds a fun touch, plus the outdoor seating on the platform is perfect for soaking up the vibes on a nice day, especially if you're near the market or beach. On the flip side, it does get a bit lively and noisy sometimes, which might not suit if you're after somewhere dead quiet, and parking can be a hassle, so maybe plan to walk or take the Metro. Also, it's adults-only after 7pm, which is brilliant for a relaxed evening but not so much if you've got little ones in tow. All in all, it's a solid spot with a 4.5 rating that shows it's doing most things right – I'd say give it a go for a proper, enjoyable night out.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is absolutely spot on – a brilliant range of real ales, craft beers, ciders, and even gins that really hits the mark for any ale enthusiast.
  • The atmosphere is so welcoming and cosy, with a real fire, an olde worlde jukebox, and outdoor seating on the station platform that makes it feel like a hidden gem.
  • Staff are incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home, adding to that warm, community vibe.
  • It's in a prime spot near Tynemouth market, the beach, and the Metro, perfect for popping in after a day out or while waiting for a train.
Cons
  • It can get a tad noisy at times, especially with the hustle and bustle around the station, though some folks say it just adds to the lively feel.
  • Parking is a bit limited, so you might have to hunt around or walk from nearby spots if you're driving.
  • No kids allowed after 7pm, which is great for a relaxed adult evening but could be a downside if you're with the family.

We went to the Tynemouth market and popped in for a drink (and the loo!). Very friendly lady serving an excellent choice of real ale. Fantastic olde worlde Juke box. A real fire, warm and friendly.

Would love to go back when they’ve got some live music on. Good selection of beers , friendly service. No kids after 7pm but dogs are fine! Plus some rowdy kids on the nearby platform are ok to have a scrap!

Gorgeous, gorgeous bar. Wide selection of keg and cask ales, as well as a generous offer of ciders. It has a nice outdoor bit which sits on the station platform, and the indoor bar is lovely too. Visit Tynemouth for the markets or the beach, and have a pint or three here to finish your day.

Had a quick pint whilst waiting for the Metro. Nice small micro bar on Tynemouth Station with outside seating. Can get a little noisy but just adds to the atmosphere. Good selection of cask and keg and gins. We did not have food so cannot comment on Limited parking outside. Would recommend.

A great pub selling some of the best craft beer and cider. Staff are very friendly too. Seats are available inside and out, and it's mega handy for the metro so you don't have to go far to get home! They recently had a band on outside for the bank holiday and a food truck outside but these are not always on so don't rely on it! There can be queues for the toilets as just one cubicle each for males and females. (I think both should be unisex to alleviate queues).
