About This Pub

Ah, let me tell you about Pircio – it's one of those spots in Bishop's Stortford that just feels like a hidden gem, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is spot on; we're talking proper Italian and Mediterranean fare with fresh ingredients that really hit the mark, whether you're opting for something classic like garlic bread or exploring their gluten-free or vegetarian options. It's all about that homely vibe, with a relaxed atmosphere that's ideal for a catch-up over lunch or dinner, and the outdoor seating is an absolute treat on a sunny day. The team usually goes out of their way to make things welcoming, which is why it's got such high praise overall. But, to keep it real, there have been a couple of moments where service hasn't quite lived up to the hype – like that instance where someone felt a waiter was a bit too forward, trying to dictate how to enjoy their meal. Still, with so many rave reviews highlighting the delicious grub and friendly feel, I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're after a memorable meal, just maybe keep an eye out for the busier times to avoid any potential hiccups.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely delicious, with a fantastic selection of traditional Italian and Mediterranean dishes that use fresh, seasonal ingredients – it's like a taste of Italy right in Bishop's Stortford.
  • The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed meal with family or mates, whether you're enjoying the unique decor inside or soaking up the sun in the outdoor seating area.
  • Staff are generally attentive and friendly, making you feel right at home, and they've got menus to suit all tastes, including gluten-free, vegetarian, and even options for kids.
  • It's in a brilliant spot in Market Square, easy to get to, and they offer private dining and catering for special occasions, which adds a nice touch for events.
Cons
  • Service can be a bit inconsistent at times, with one account mentioning a waiter who came across as overly bossy, which might put a dampener on the experience.
  • It can get quite busy on weekends, leading to a noisy environment that might make it harder to chat, though you can ask for a quieter spot upstairs.

Location spot on. Tucked away in Bishops Stortford Town Centre. Very busy on Friday and Saturday. Noisy but you can still have a conversation. If you want it to be less busy ask to be seated upstairs. Staff very attentive. Me and my wife had Garlic Bread with Cheese and Caramelised Onion, Whitebait, Battered Prawns, Chicken Kofte, Pollo Milanese. We had a Coke Zero, Coke and water for the table. Came to about £95 with service charge. Worth it. Food was spot on. Everything was tasty. Portion size for white bait was generous. Prawns could’ve been a bit better on the portions. Chocolate cake for dessert was nice but I’ll try the chocolate fondant next time as I don’t think it’s worth £8 a slice. Second time here and hasn’t disappointed either time.

Nice food and good environment, but there is a waiter talked to me very bossy, sounds like a mentor trying to “TEACH” me how should I finish my food. I guess he is just a very funny guy trying to TEACH a young girl how should she finishes her food in a CORRECT way, very “heartwarming” behavior, so cool that I come to a restaurant to enjoy food and got a free bossy lesson, I learned a lot from him.
