About This Pub

Ah, MOMO., tucked away on Church Street in Bishop's Stortford – it's one of those places that really warms you up on a chilly evening. From the reviews, it sounds like they've nailed the food scene with inventive options like killer ramen and burgers that leave you wanting more, and the cocktails are just the ticket for a proper night out. I love how they've got loads of vegan choices, making it accessible for everyone, and the service comes across as genuinely welcoming, like you're catching up with mates over a pint. On the downside, there was that unfortunate mix-up with a supposed plant-based dish turning out to be meat, which is a proper nuisance if you're watching what you eat, and a few folks noted that some flavours could do with a bit less salt or more punch. Still, with such high praise overall, I'd say it's well worth popping in for a bite – just give the menu a good once-over and check they're open before you head out. It's got that homely feel that makes you want to come back, flaws and all.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is an absolute delight, with unique dishes like ramen and burgers that stand out in Bishop's Stortford and even hold their own against London favourites.
  • They've got a cracking selection of cocktails and mocktails, perfect for a relaxed evening out, and it's great to see plenty of vegan options on the menu.
  • Service is warm and welcoming, with staff going the extra mile to make you feel at home – it's just like chatting with friendly locals.
  • Prices are spot on, offering good value for the quality, so you won't feel short-changed after a meal.
Cons
  • There have been a few mix-ups with orders, like one person expecting a plant-based burger but getting meat instead, which could spoil the experience if you're particular about dietary needs.
  • Some dishes might need a bit of tweaking, as a couple of reviews mentioned things being too salty or a tad bland, so it might not hit the mark every time.
  • The operating hours seem a bit confusing from what's listed, and with the status showing as closed, it's worth checking ahead to avoid disappointment.

I ordered the umami burger, it is listed as plant-based on Deliveroo and what I received was a meat burger with cheese. I had actually contacted the restaurant twice before this about their listing believing it was inaccurate as on other apps and on their menu on their website they have a choice of vegetarian and meat options as well as the vegan one. The first time I called they took my order number and ensured me it would be vegan and they’d look at the listing. A week later I ordered again and called them again as the listing hadn’t changed. This time I got through to a different person whose number is under the allergies section on this listing. He told me that he will look into it but if it says plant based on the app I will receive a plant based order so not to worry but he would make sure by telling staff it has to be vegan. Due to what this person told me I decided to trust the app this time, especially as I assumed after two calls about their listing they would review it. Ordered tonight and what we received was meat. I ate almost all of mine while my partner luckily only took one bite and could tell. I called the restaurant and they confirmed we received meat and the order they had received was just for two umami burgers, so as I originally suspected the listing was set up wrong. This is unbelievably unacceptable, luckily we are only vegan for ethical reasons, but if someone orders this and is allergic to those ingredients it could be potentially fatal. Deliveroo apparently can’t delist them and all I can do is leave a review. I am disgusted at this restaurant and will never eat here again. UPDATE: Someone from peach (I believe it may be the owner) did contact me about this and very quickly got the listing on Deliveroo taken offline until it is fixed. They apologised and asked if they could do anything for me to make up for this. Unfortunately this is something that really they can’t do anything for. I hope the owners understand that my partner and I will not be eating from their restaurant again due to this. But their response was professional, humble and quick, so for that, I am grateful. Everyone makes mistakes, my frustration is mostly with the warnings I gave to them not being listened to and resulting in me eating something that I am incredibly ethically opposed to. I feel bad for this strongly worded review, but when I remember the experience I have had I also can’t bring myself to remove it or change it despite a decent response after the incident.

My husband and I visited MOMO. recently for a date night and absolutely loved our time there - the food is so unique for Stortford and a standout from other establishments, and the cocktails are delicious and well made! I got the ramen which rivals even my favorite ramen spot in London. Incredible and full of flavor. 🤤 We got to speak to the owners during our visit who are lovely, and you can tell they are passionate about what they do. We especially love that they are dog friendly - our pup Hope thoroughly enjoyed her visit, too! I can't recommend MOMO. enough 💙

A great visit with friends. Food was really good and all of us were very pleased with our menu choices. The Korean fries were to die for! We also enjoyed the range of mocktails on offer. Service was good too. It was also brilliant to see all the vegan options on offer.

I had a great experience with customer service, and the Halloween vibe was really fun! I enjoyed the burgers we tried: the Nduja burger and a classic burger. Their steak is really good and juicy. However, I felt the Nduja burger could be less salty, and the classic burger was a bit too mild, even with cheese. We ordered extra fries as a side. While they were okay, I was disappointed that they didn’t come with the burgers. Given the extra charge, I expected better quality, especially for the pork scratchings on top, which were too hard to bite into. As for dessert, it was a bit too sweet for my liking. Overall, the customer service was especially good, which made the visit enjoyable!
