Over & Above in Harrogate

I had the best time at Over & Above. It’s such a great cocktail bar — stylish but relaxed, with a really friendly vibe. What I loved most is how they’ve taken inspiration from Harrogate itself. You can feel the local touches throughout the menu, which makes it feel really special and thoughtful. I tried the Greenhouse and absolutely loved it — fresh, vibrant, and honestly one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. You can tell they really care about what they’re doing here. If you’re in Harrogate and fancy a proper good drink in a beautiful setting, this place is 100% worth a visit.

There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe this place. After figuring out the hidden entrance (I won’t give it away) I was blown away by the ambience of this cool, speakeasy bar. Souled filled funky vibe without being pretentious is hard to find but this place just gets everything right. The staff are attentive and welcoming whilst simultaneously shaking drinks to serve their intimate but lively crowd. And I’ve not even started on the drinks. The technical flair brought to well known cocktails was outstanding. A salty foam on the best margarita I’ve ever had was mouthwatering. We went pre dinner and post dinner both having different vibes that are more than worth experiencing. All at excellent value for money. I challenge you to find a better Old Fashioned. It’s worth visiting for the ice alone. If Michelin starred bars this would be up there. Highly recommend.

This beautifully hidden bar is an absolute gem. We visited to have a cocktail or two after an anniversary dinner in the town but couldn't stop trying different cocktails! Rich is an artist and magician with a real passion for his creations, and he's done a great job of selecting a team of colleagues who share this passion! The Shaky Pete's cocktail is like nothing I've ever tried before, the ginger bringing warmth through the softness of the ale. I would have loved to have had a second, but wanted to try different drinks! The Margarita's came next and were incredible, with 'salt air' replacing the salt on the rim of the glass to great effect. A Greenhouse and a Don West followed (between us!) and we finished with a Holy Smokes each, which was a performance in its creation alone! The ambience in the bar is elegant yet relaxed, with some beautiful photos on the wall bringing a real family feel. Everything feels premium, from the finishings, to the furnishings, to the glasses and of course to the drinks themselves. You go to the pub for a drink, but you visit Over and Above for an experience. There's much yet to try and we look forward to another evening in this delightful bar with its lovely staff.

Honestly the best cocktails I’ve ever had. From arrival to the very end we were so looked after, it was clear that everyone there is so passionate about what they do. Shout out to Oli for making us the BEST espresso martini I’ve ever tasted! This place is exactly what Harrogate has been missing, and I cannot wait to return.

Over & Above is exactly what Harrogate has been missing – an independent bar serving truly exceptional cocktails! The drinks are on another level - I’ve never tasted cocktails so good! The attention to detail in the thoughtfully curated cocktail menu is remarkable, and they also offer an excellent selection of wine, beer and low/non-alcoholic options as well. With fantastic service and a beautiful venue, I’m already looking forward to working my way through the entire menu!
