About This Pub

Ah, Orleans Smokehouse in Solihull – it's one of those places that brings a bit of that New Orleans energy right here in the Midlands, with its big, bold BBQ dishes that can really get your mouth watering. I reckon it's a great shout for a laid-back evening out; the staff are absolute stars, always on hand with a friendly chat and making sure everything runs smoothly, which adds a lovely touch to the whole experience. The outdoor heated areas are a nice bonus too, especially on a cooler night, giving you that cosy feel without skimping on the fun. But honestly, it's not all perfect – some folks have mentioned the food coming out a tad overcooked, like ribs that are more chewy than juicy, and the portions can feel a bit stingy for what you're paying, which might leave you a smidge disappointed. Overall, it's a solid choice for a group meal or family gathering, but I'd say go in with realistic hopes; it's got plenty of charm, but it won't blow your socks off every single time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is packed with bold, smoky BBQ flavours that really hit the spot, just like a proper Southern-style feast.
  • Staff are super friendly and attentive, making you feel welcome and looked after from the get-go.
  • It's got a cosy, family-friendly atmosphere, with heated outdoor areas that are perfect for a relaxed catch-up with friends or family.
  • They're open seven days a week with decent hours, so it's easy to pop in for a bite whenever the mood strikes.
Cons
  • Some dishes can be overcooked and end up a bit dry or tough, which takes the edge off the enjoyment.
  • Portions don't always match the price – like those small starters that leave you wanting more for your money.
  • It's solid but not always standout; a few visits might feel just average rather than truly memorable.
  • Experiences can vary, so you might have a great night one time and a disappointing one the next.

We had such a wonderful experience! The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. A special shout-out to Danielle for taking such great care of us! Thank you! 😊

We attended on a Saturday evening and booked the outdoor heated sheds. When we arrived we were told to enter the garden through the side door and find ourselves a shed and order through the QR code on the app. Sheds were lovely and cosy and definitely warm enough with the heated lamps. We ordered separately and our drinks came together, however our food came at different times, to the point that one of us had finished the main meal before the other one was brought out. We had to ask twice on an update and for napkins and no one even brought that out with the food. Food was delicious, one of the best meals out I’ve had, however was disappointed at the service. Felt as though we were pushed outside and left to it, maybe if we sat in the restaurant next time we’d have a different experience. Managers were amazing, helped us claim our free dessert as it was not working through the ordering system online. Would return but would try the indoor seating as we both agreed it seemed like there was better service overall.

The food is beyond overcooked, we had the platter which on first impression, looked good, but upon tasting was inedible. Dry to the bone wings and ribs, you couldn’t get a knife through the beef short rib and the pulled pork resembled shredded wheat, truly awful meat, I don’t know how they’ve got it so wrong! When we brought it to the waiters attention, he inadvertently offended our knowledge of food by telling us ‘we probably just got the end cuts, which was unfortunate.’ This wasn’t the case but even if this was, we shouldn’t have been served them in the first place. The only reason we said everything was okay when the waiter came back to do his first check back (2 minutes into the meal) was because we had only tried the macaroni cheese, which we were first feeding our baby before ourselves. The sides were actually quite tasty though. When the waiter alerted his manager about the problem, he seemed very incompetent and avoidant of any sort of conversation/complaint, thanked us for letting him know about the food being dry. Absolutely gobsmacked at his lack of customer service/problem solving skills. Avoid

The food was beautiful. My better half had the platter for 1, it was huge. I think he had the meat sweats for a while after. My daughter had the tacos with pulled pork, I thought it wouldn't be a good idea and wouldn't be filling so I encouraged her to have a side of the corn dogs, the tacos portion was huge but she loved the corn dogs. I had the beef brisket sub with a side of pit beans so tasty and filling. My daughter had the cookie dough milkshake and we all had a round of drinks and the bill came to £100 which i thought was quite fair to say how stuffed we were. Our waitress, Danielle was lovely, really bubbly and attentive, just the right amount of chatty. She checked in enough but not too much. We were sat down and eating our meal well with 20-25 mins after arriving, most of it was deciding what to have. Would definitely travel the 60 mins to visit again.

Food was good service good wouldn't say it was outstanding have been to a few smokehouse and this would be average. Starters for the price 3 tenders and small tenders at that not to shout about. Nachos sharing platter should be with cheese and sauce guacamole and everything on top of the nachos, saving on cheese and pulled pork portions, I think. Beef short rib very good and large portion but on the 4 bone 2 bone don't bother. Burger beef bonanza is average at best of a burger.
