About This Pub

Ah, the Old Farm Hotel – it's one of those places that just feels like a friendly local spot tucked away in Bournville, near all the Cadbury charm. I have to say, what stands out most is how the staff bend over backwards to make you feel at home; stories like them sorting out an Uber in an emergency really warm the cockles. The rooms are clean and cosy, and that breakfast is a proper treat to kick off your day. Plus, with a well-stocked bar and a cracking garden for enjoying a pint or hosting a get-together, it's spot on for a relaxed evening. On the flip side, though, I've heard a few tales of rooms being a bit nippy when you walk in, so it might take a moment to settle in, and they're not the biggest, which could cramp your style if you're travelling with a crowd. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone wanting a hassle-free stay with a personal touch, but just keep those little things in mind to make the most of it – I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you're in the area.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – they're so friendly and go the extra mile, like sorting out transport in a pinch, which really makes you feel looked after.
  • The rooms are comfy and spotlessly clean, with a fantastic breakfast that sets you up nicely for the day.
  • It's got a lovely bar and a big private garden, ideal for relaxing or hosting events like birthdays or wakes, and the atmosphere is just right for a good chinwag.
  • Prime location in Bournville, just a stone's throw from Cadbury World and with easy access to Birmingham city centre via the nearby train station.
  • Overall, it's got stellar ratings, so you can count on a warm welcome and a solid stay without any major surprises.
Cons
  • Some rooms can be a tad chilly when you first arrive, so you might end up waiting around in your coat to get comfy.
  • The rooms are on the smaller side, which could feel a bit tight if you're after more space, especially with the bed setup.
  • There aren't any clear operating hours listed, so it's worth double-checking to avoid any disappointment if you're popping in for a drink or event.

The owner of this hotel was more than accommodation, even after losing my network connection on my phone so being able to get taxi to see my father in hospital he so generously paid for an uber to get me there. What a legend!! Thank you ❤️

We had a marvellous 80th birthday celebration here on 31 May. From initial booking to the party conclusion everything was excellent. The food was plentiful and lovely and a nice cosy bar area. As the weather was good, we also took advantage of the lovely garden. The service from Miz, Tina, and Sharon was flawless. We didn't stay as mainly local people. There are also great plans under the new management and we recommend highly. We will return. Thank you all.

Friendly helpful host. Room very cold on arrival 7° waited an hr sat in our coats to warm up. (May help if guests are booked into this room to pop heating on before they arrive). The room was clean, but small, bed pushed into the corner, and there was not enough room for a bedside table. Mattress is not good quality, which resulted in 2 nights' poor sleep. The bathroom was clean. The radiator did not work. But there was a wall mounted electric heater in the bathroom. Breakfast was fine, cereal, and juices, cooked breakfast was nice and served hot. The hotel was close to Queen elizabeth Hospital and Birmingham.

Didn't stay there, was there for the wake of my mother in law😥staff were really friendly & helpful. In fact chose the Old Farm again, after going there about 10 years previously for my father in law's wake as the staff were lovely then too. I would recommend.

I have stayed at the Old Farm Hotel twice through work travel and both times have been great. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is fantastic and made very quickly. The room is comfortable and very clean. The hotel is quiet and you can get a great nights sleep. There is plenty of outdoor seating in the garden and a little bar which is a nice option when the weather is good. Overall a fantastic hotel and I would recommend.
