About This Pub

Ah, the Northumberland Arms – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper community hub in Bedlington, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, it's got this really inviting atmosphere where you can pop in for a pint and end up chatting away with the friendly owners and regulars. The quiz nights on Thursdays sound like a highlight; they're a right giggle, bringing together a mix of people for some friendly competition and laughs. It's praised for being homely and comfortable, which makes it ideal for a relaxed evening with friends. On the flip side, though, drinks are a tad more expensive than at some other locals, so you might want to factor that in if you're planning a big night. Then there's the issue with vaping inside – it's a bit of a downer and can make the air feel less fresh. Plus, getting in might be a challenge if you're using a wheelchair due to those steps, and street parking only adds to the faff. Overall, it's a solid spot with plenty of heart, but it's not without its rough edges – I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area, just go in with your eyes open to the pros and cons.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely spot on – it's warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • Friendly owners and staff who go out of their way to make everyone feel included, which really adds to the charm.
  • They've got a brilliant quiz night on Thursdays that's always a good laugh, mixing in folks of all ages for a proper social vibe.
  • It's a lovely homely spot with a great community feel, perfect for catching up with mates over a drink.
Cons
  • Drinks can be a bit on the pricey side compared to other pubs in the area, which might put a dent in your night out budget.
  • There's quite a bit of vaping going on inside, which can be off-putting and spoil the enjoyment for some.
  • Accessibility isn't ideal with steps at the entrance, making it tricky for those with mobility issues, though not impossible.
  • No on-site parking means you'll likely have to hunt for a spot on the street, which can be a hassle on busier evenings.

Been my local for a few years now. Love it here, always made to feel welcome by the owners. Great atmosphere, great people. They do a quiz night on a Thursday which is always a laugh. Downside is that drinks are on the more expensive side compared to other local pubs. If drinks were a bit cheaper I'd probably be in there more. Apart from that its a great place to catch up with friends. Would recommend.

Good atmosphere and nice little pub. Thursday night is quiz night with a mixture of old and young, however lots of vaping inside, which is very off-putting.

Friendly staff/owner in a homely environment There are some lips to enter so wheelchair access might be difficult but not impossible No on-site parking, best bet is street parking along the street the pub is located on
