About This Pub
Ah, New Chequers in Worcester – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a proper British night out. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are absolute gems, always up for a chat and making sure everyone feels at ease, which really adds to the homely feel. The Sunday lunches sound like a winner; folks rave about the hearty portions and great value, with sides like cauliflower cheese and dauphinoise potatoes that leave you wanting more. It's got that classic pub charm with a good selection of beers, and the outdoor area with fires is ideal for when the weather plays ball. On the flip side, the function room needs a bit of TLC right now, and it's a bit gutting to see it might be shut at the moment – hopefully that's just temporary. Overall, if you're after a solid spot for a meal or a gathering, it's worth keeping an eye on, as it could be a top choice once it's back in full swing.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
-
The food is spot on, especially the Sunday lunch which is generous, tasty, and an absolute bargain at just £11.95.
-
It's got that proper traditional pub vibe, with plenty of beer choices on tap and a cosy atmosphere.
-
There's a large function room that's great for events, and it's set for an upgrade soon, plus a good car park out back.
-
The outdoor space is lovely, with fires to keep you warm, perfect for a relaxed pint on a milder day.
Cons
-
The function room could use a bit of freshening up at the moment, though it's apparently getting some work done.
-
It seems like the place might be closed right now, which is a real shame given all the positives.
-
There haven't been any recent reviews in the last six months, so it's hard to tell if things have stayed as brilliant as before.

Function room large needs some up dating but it's getting an upgrade. Food was plentiful, good selection. Very friendly publican good car park behind the pub
Great pub, with a proper traditional feel. Plenty of choice on the pumps, and always seems friendly.
Update: Have now been for the Sunday lunch, which was extremely good. Photo probably doesn't give it full justice, as a lot of the food isn't visable, and also sides of cauliflower cheese and dauphonoise potato. All for £11.95.
Good value, fantastic quality food.
Had a Sunday lunch here and was not disappointed. Only £11.95! Friendly staff, quick service. Will definitely be going back...maybe have dessert this time! Picture doesn't do it justice as there is plenty under the meat and also not pictured is the side of cauliflower cheese and dauphinoise potatoes
You gotta be mad to come here....but once bitten....😂
New management continues to do a great job as creating a busy, fun and happy environment! Lovely fires outdoors and great outdoors space!
Just booked function room. Friendly owner and very good price for buffet.
9/4/19. Had a wake here today. Excellent array of food well presented. Hot water topped up for free tea and coffee. Clean and warm room. Staff friendly and helpful. Really good value for money. Would certainly come again.
