About This Pub

Ah, the Morpeth Arms, what a cracking little spot it is! Tucked away on the North Bank of the Thames, it's just a stone's throw from Westminster and Tate Britain, making it an absolute winner for anyone exploring London. From the reviews I've seen, folks are raving about the food – think hearty Sunday roasts and classic pub dishes packed with the best British produce, all at reasonable prices that won't break the bank. The drinks selection is spot on too, with a range of local ales and seasonal spritzes that hit the spot after a long day. The atmosphere feels warm and inviting, like popping into your local for a chat, and it's got these fantastic views of the MI6 building that add a bit of intrigue to your visit. On the flip side, it's worth noting that when things get busy – which they often do in such a central location – the service might slow down a touch, so if you're in a rush, maybe plan ahead. Overall, it's a place that does pubbing right, with that traditional charm and friendly feel, but just keep an eye on the crowds if you're after a quiet one. I'd say it's well worth a visit for anyone looking for good grub and good times in the heart of the city.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The location is absolutely spot on, right by the River Thames with stunning views of the MI6 building – perfect for a scenic pint after a wander around Westminster or Tate Britain.
  • The food is top-notch; their Sunday roasts and pub classics are made with fresh, seasonal British ingredients, and from what I've heard, portions are generous and full of flavour.
  • Service is generally warm and welcoming, with staff going out of their way to make you feel at home, like that friendly barman who showed folks to their table.
  • They've got a great selection of local ales, beers, and spritzes, making it easy to find something to suit everyone's taste for a relaxed catch-up.
  • The atmosphere is cosy and traditional, ideal for everything from a quick drink to celebrating with friends in their private rooms.
Cons
  • Service can get a bit slower when the place is packed, which might mean a longer wait for your food or drinks on busier evenings.
  • It's in a prime spot in central London, so it can get quite crowded, especially near tourist hotspots, which might make it feel a tad overwhelming at times.

We visited on a recommendation from the place we were stopping in, in North London. Well worth the trip. The guy behind the bar welcomed us and showed us to the restaurant upstairs with views of the MI6 building. The food was brilliant and didn’t take long to arrive. Our server, Ana was extraordinarily great. She was happy to talk with us and explained some of the history of the pub. Would recommend to anybody wanting food and drink in a pub with great atmosphere.

Popped into Morpeth Arms with my best friend and had such a good time I nearly forgot we were sat across from MI6. Ordered a pint of Jubel, butterfly prawns, crispy squid, and a chicken salad — everything was fresh, tasty, and came out quick. The service was great, really friendly and helpful without being fake or pushy. Atmosphere was relaxed but lively, like the kind of pub where you could stay for one more five times. Perfect spot if you want good food, a view with a bit of drama, and a night that just feels right.

Had such a lovely time here. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. We ordered Brie Bites – honestly, they were absolutely delicious – and I had the Mushroom Pie, which was comforting and full of flavour. A really great spot to relax with friends. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Booked here for lunch last minute after a trip to Tate Britain. Great food which was piping hot. Really good portions and so delicious and good prices. Had the Fish and Chips and my wife had the Ciabatta and Mac and Cheese (which she could not finish so had for her tea!). Lovely pub and really enjoyed the history of the place. A big thank you to Luke who gave us a quick tour. Definitely worth a visit!!

A fine place with a good choice of beer. Service a bit slower and less friendly than expected, but I have to admit they were very busy that night. I had a good steak and ale pie and a scotch egg, my friend had fish'n'chips and was also satisfied.
